I met with a manager at my company that I did not know at the time. A friend of mine just told me that his contacts were looking for people to hire.
Anyway my friend got laid off. I had her resume so I went and spoke to him.
Well she called me yesterday to say that they called her in for a few different positions.
Well I did not really know the guy. I really still don't. I have not seen him since we met and I gave him the resume.
I want to thank him for passing on her resume and really looking into it.
What is appropriate for me to get or do?

Re: What to get Upper Management as a Thank you
I think just a simple thank-you (verbal) would do. If you knew him, a little gift would be nice, but since he's a stranger, just pop in his office and give your gratitude.

I wouldn't say anything until your friend is hired because you don't want him to think that you have a huge stake in her joining the company. I would definately NOT get a gift at any point. If your friend gets the job then it will be on her merits/resume. You may be entitled to a referal bonus though.

Ok I was thinking of just saying thank you. Then I wondered if I should do more. I didn't want to over step boundaries though.
I will wait until she gets an offer b/c you are right I would hate to ruin it for her.
Now a bonus would be nice.

I would verbally thank him for considering your referral and then thank him again for his time.
