What to give for a first birthday party?

What to give for a first birthday party?

I know this was posted recently, but I couldn't find it.

Its for a good friend of mines daughter - the party is going to be in a hall with a buffet dinner - do I give a gift or money? I was thinking maybe a cute fun toy and an outfit - is that too little?

I dont think a toy and outfit is too little - the present is for the kid - not the parents - if you want to give money for the kid so the parents can save for him that is fine though -

I actually have to get a present for my nephew's 1st birthday - i need ideas too!

I got my neice the mother load of books for her 1st birthday.

Some Baby books and then some collectable books.

Never to early to start them !

its kind of old school..but what about a savings bond? i know its not worth much, but the parents can use it to start a savings acct for the baby.

I was the one that posted recently. I have my party in two weeks so any other ideas would be great. Ours is at a hall too.

I think clothes and a toy would be good. But I'd do a savings bond over money.

You should go to the parenting board- tons of ideas there I am sure.

I would give clothes and toys.
