What to pack for Hawaii?

What to pack for Hawaii?

Ok, so now that I'm getting close, I am getting to do more of the fun stuff, like shopping for my honeymoon! For those of you that went to Hawaii, I'm going to Maui (Four Seasons) and Kauai (Hyatt). What should I pack to wear during the day/night, etc.?

ppl said everyone dresses casually, but I didn't find that to be the case - especially at the Hyatt on Kauai. I wore casual clothes for the daytime things - pool, snorkling, etc., but in the evening I wore capris, dressier shirts and sandals each night. The weather was PERFECT - not too chilly at night but I usually had a sweater.

I saw a lot of women in tank dresses and skirts each evening as well.

Definitely bring a few sweaters for the night, it gets very breezy. I thought both islands were very casual. I wore a lot of dresses & capris and I felt very dressed up in comparison to a lot of people. I was very surprised, people would go some of the nicer resteraunts in shorts & t-shirts.

Tammy - I found it to be the complete opposite! I remember thinking I was too casual at times.

It also depends on where you go, but a few outfits for each will work too!

I also dressed very casual while I was there-nothing too fancy. You would see people at fancy restauraunts in a bathing suit and cover up sometimes! The weather usually stays the same comfy temp (70's-80's), but not too much humidity.

During the day I wore my bathing suit with a wrap or shorts & tanks. At night, I brought with me sun dresses, skirts, pants with nice tips.

FYI, if you're having a wedding in the winter time...do your shopping this summer! It just occured to me the other day that we are getting married in Feb 04 and the stores do not sell summer items at that time!

I found it very casual...but we never went to a nice restaurant in flipflops...you may want to bring something a little dressier...but don't go overboard in that category...

dressing for men...hawaiian shirts and khakis...shorts or pants!!

I found it pretty casual too.

At night: I wore mostly capris and tanks/nice shirts or a casual skirt with a top and sandals. (I don't own any cute sundresses.) Some nights it did get cool but I never wore a light sweater but I would bring on in case. I never felt under dressed and we went to a lot of fancy restaurants.

In the day: shorts, tees, tanks and a bathing suit - sneakers or flip flops.

When I went to the 4 Seasons one day to check out the grounds, I felt a difference in the dress. I had on my bath suit covered by tank and khaki shorts, flip flops and the usual bun in my hair (it was the usual day by the pool look) and I felt people were more dressed up by the pool than in my hotel. My hotel was right next door and same price range but for some reason I felt the crowd was a little more to do!! At night I went to Spago's there and I wore a skirt and tank/dressy top and was fine. Although there was a some kind of event going on there in some room and there were alot of people extremely dressed up but they were all part of the affair.
