What to wear, what to wear?

I am going to a friend's engagement party on saturday night at a country club and I'm at a loss of what to wear. Should I wear a nice pair of pants and a button down/sweater, or a skirt or what? I'm so confused!

It's the first dressy engagement party i've been to and I have no idea what to wear :-P

If it's a Sat night & country club I would wear a dress or skirt. I wouldn't go with pants. JMO though. GL
