I'd say a suit with a tie. We have a wedding Sunday and that's what FH is wearing.

i forget where i read this but short sleeve dress shirts are never acceptable - not for business or any function. . .even with a tie
LOL which is funny bc that is all my dad wears EVERY SINGLE DAY even when he doesnt have work ( without the tie)
this is from GQ: Q: Is it a fashion no-no to wear a tie with a short-sleeve dress shirt? A: There is no such thing as a short-sleeve dress shirt. There is a precedent, however, for wearing a tie with a short-sleeve shirt—that’s the old NASA-control-room look. It goes best with thin black pants, a crew cut, a pencil pack, and a shout of “Go, baby! Go!”
suit and tie and long sleeves. short sleeves on a dress shirt to me never looks as nice

No short sleeves ..even under a jacket ,....most men then forget they have a short sleeved shirt on and take the jacket off.....

Re: what to wear?
I would steer clear of a short-sleeved dress shirt. As far as colors go, my brother wore a great color combo to my e-party-- it was a salmon/coral colored shirt and really nice flat-front (no pleats) khaki pants.

Why don't you just wear whatever color dress YOU want. Just because your friend is wearing blk doesn't mean you have to. Blk is a popular color amongst guests. I like to be different and not wear blk. JMO

you don't have to wear a black dress! you can wear whatever you want.
your FH can wear exactly what you described. would you have him wear a tie? i think it'd be a nice touch.

honestly, i have been to several formal events including weddings in the summer months and most of the men had short sleeves. I don't think it's a problem at all. Especially if a lot of the day will be spent out doors. Even if only the ceremony is outside... i think it's silly that men have to wear long sleeves and get all sweaty and have to deal with that for the rest of the day.

Ive never seen that, if its a beach wedding then that is fine but otherwise every event i went to they always had a suit on

I would tell him to wear a suit with no tie and the first button unbuttoned...and I would go with a black suit and a colored shirt....
