Mallory will be 8 months in September, so she'll be 17 or 18 months when that baby comes along. We may be crazy!

PS - having a child alone is good birth control! You don't have the time, or the energy to have sex anyway!

I have an IUD. It is a great long term birthcontrol without any hormones or worries about taking it.

same here.... We would like to have #2 eventually... Andrew is just about 11 months now, so it would be too terrible of a thing to happen, although we are not trying just yet!

Wanted to add that I was on the mini pill becaus eI breastfeed, and I hated it. I got my period every two weeks so I just stopped taking it.

I'm not sure. Unless we win the lotto we're done after the twins are born. But, I just can't bring myself to have my tubes tied.

I haven't had that problem with the mini pill yet, but I just started on it - thanks for the heads up!

hmmm...I was afraid of that.

What's EBF?? Took me a minute but I figured out POP

And what's the difference between the mini pill and the regular pill?

Re: What type of Birth Control will you use/are you using

Progestin-Only Pill (POP), commonly called the 'mini-pill,' these are different from combined birth control pills in that they contain only one hormone (progestin) instead of two (progestin and estrogen).

POPs may prevent pregnancy in several ways. They thicken the cervical mucus (the substance at the opening of the uterus), making it harder for sperm to reach and fertilize the egg. Like combined pills, they can prevent a woman's body from releasing an egg during her monthly menstrual cycle. However, ovulation may not be consistently suppressed on POPs. Five percent of women using POPs will have an unintended pregnancy within the first year of typical use. Perfect use rate is 0.5%. The chance of becoming pregnant increases with missed pills.

Women who are breast-feeding can use POPs for contraception. Using POPs while breastfeeding will not harm a baby and may actually help increase the amount of milk produced.

You have to be careful to make sure you take the pill at the same time everyday - my prescription paper said that if not taken correctly that 1 in 20 women get pregnant within a year of starting the minipill - that's high!

LOL...be careful w/that method...you'll wind up preggo before you know it! Exclusively breastfeeding might delay the return of your period...but, it does not mean your body is not able to get pregnant. You might want to speak to your OB about BC options.
