OK I don't know the proper names for them, but are you having a cake with the layers sitting right on top of each other??? or a cake that has spaces in between each layer???

i had separate cakes - no spaces involved....i liked that look better & we had so many cake toppers, we wanted to use all of them :)

personally I dont think I want spaces either but my mother thinks that the cake is going to look too small and puny without them...so now Im not sure

if your mom is worried about that - they can fake a few layers. I know it's been done before.....i think they basically decorate a box (or something else false) and put it as another layer...

Our cake fed 80 people and it didn't look puny at all (i don't think)...

The Swan Club offers 3 different types of cakes, and one of them has those columns holding up each layer. FH and I both didn't like that look at all! Our layers are going to sit on top of each other, but we got a square cake, so each layer will sit angled on top of the layer underneath it (if that makes sense). We think it'll look kinda cool and different!
