...just wondering.

My own experience: We flew out to Italy for fi's cousin's wedding. She is Italian (from Italy) and weddings are a little different there.

But, she kept it VERY simple. No centerpieces. There was one-woman with kareoke set up for music. Simple invites. No limos.

But, this bride is a TRULY GOOD person and was SO HAPPY. We had a great time!

Honestly, the best weddings I've been too had more to do with the people than the place or the decor - I went to a wedding that was small and in a so-so place with so-so food, but I know a ton of people and they were all fun and we danced all night and it was the best. I've also been to weddings that were gorgeous and lavish and all that but I knew nobody and so I had an awful time!

The best wedding I ever went to was the day after Hericane Gloria (back in the 80's). It was on a Saturday, the day after. The couple rented a small house on an estate on a hill that overlooked water (they lived there). (I don't remember the exact location, but it was near St. James)

The ceremony- It was a mixed Catholic/Jewish ceremony. It was outside and the guests looked out over the water. The day was beautifully sunny and temporate. It was the most beautiful ceremony I've seen.

The reception- They rented a tent. They also had to rent generators at the last minute. They had different food stations with different cuisenes. And I even got a little tipsy on the champane.

It was like an oasis after the storm. My family and the rest of LI had no power. We didn't get ours back for another week. My mother bathed in her bathing suit with the hose. I braved a freezing cold shower. It's a nice memory in our family.

A fairly small wedding (~40 people) in DC a few years back. The original reception location became unavailable 2 weeks (!) before the wedding due to impending protests. At the last minute, they were able to book one of the best restaurants in DC - a lovely ceremony in an upstairs room, *delicious* lunch, heartwarming toasts - just 'cocktail hour' music during their luncheon, but such good food and wine, and it was so nice to be able to actually talk to the people we were sitting with! It was lovely...

My brother's. It was at the meadow club and the food was great. We danced the entire time and did not even have one drink because I was up dancing!

The best wedding I ever went to was at the brooklyn society for ethical culture, am old, semi-run down but very pretty mansion in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It was super simple and at the end the bride and her dad played the guitar and sang 'save the last dance for me'. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun.

My cousin's in Georgia....it seemed like all my family flew in...we all stayed at this great hotel. The reception was this beautiful golf course on a Saturday night in April so it wasn't too hot in Atlanta yet and we all just danced the night away and had a great time!!!!

I hope I have hals as much fun at my own (although I'm sure I will!!!!)

it depends.
the best lavish wedding i ever went to was at marina del ray. the place is GORGEOUS. the food was the best i'd ever had.
but as far as fun weddings...the two weddings i was the MOH in were the best. one was my best friends and one was my cousins.

The best wedding I ever went to was my FH's brother. FH was the Best Man and he gave his speech and I was so proud of him. We really love them a whole lot and we wanted to do so many special things for them so we had fun with them too. Now we have reversed roles and FH's brother is the Best Man and his wife is very thrilled about our's and she is always helping me out and throwing ideas at me.

Same here. My sister's is the best I've ever been to because it was just a big party. It was in a room and there were balloons, not flowers (*gasp*), etc etc. No one cared - we all had such a great great time.
