What was your timeframe..

What was your timeframe of booking anything after your engagement??? How quickly or slowly were your steps?

We were kind of stressed since we met with 12 halls in the span of 2 weeks. Then we had an issue with the church timing and thought we had to change our church. In the end, it worked out, but it was still stressful at times. Now that our eparty is over, we are back to looking for vendors.

We got engaged back in 2008 and we planned a long engagement, we pretty much had everything book within 2 to 3 month from then. My goal was to lock in 2008 prices. I still have the hair, make up and invites to do, booking is easy and fun the hard part is paying.

Certain vendors I didn't get stressed about but others I did, so it depends on what is most important to you.

I got engaged July 13, 2009 and we set the date for July 31, 2010. So far the only time I have been stressed is in making sure we got the date we wanted. Once we found our hall which was 2 weeks later, I started researching vendors and pretty much knew exactly who I wanted basd on friends and family members that have you them. Got some quotes and know exactkly what we want. Booking limos in 2 weeks, the end of September we will do photo/video, beginning of Octover DJ and then the main things are done. I know once the holidays roll around things will be stressful as it is so I wanted the big stuf out of the way.

i agree, i def stressed about the hall and im stressing over videographer

the hall was the first thing we booked and that was like 3 months after we got enagaged

We got engaged July , 2008 book our chruch and Rh 4 mths after we got engaged, which was right after our e-party I wanted toget all my vendors out of the way so they where all booked by April the only stressful thing was getting all the bm to order there dresses which is done and know invites for some reason its driving me crazy picking out invities!!!

I am always stressed. Some of the time its stress that I bring upon myself because I am a worrier by nature. We got engaged in May and I started planning immediately because I am OOT and can only go to NY to do things so often

We got engaged Feb 09 and booked our RH in July! That was the most stressful part so far.

I bought one of my indian outfits already, we have our officiant and location for the ceremony...other than that we havent booked any vendors.

I have been doing alot of research into vendors but i need to start visiting them!!!

We waited a month to start looking at RHs...we did not book for about five month bc I felt like I needed to see 20 RHs

i just took my sweet time. when we got engaged i still had 2.5 semesters of college left. that was my #1 priority. the hall was booked 9 months after we got engaged, & only because my sister set up all the appointments for me. after that over the next 8 months we booked church, band, photo/video. in between i picked & ordered my dress & we picked the bridesmaids dresses, which will be ordered in September.

currently i am taking care of the limos & all the paper stuff (invites, program/menu designs, etc.).

once FMIL is ready we will look at flowers.

i am calm 85% of the time, then i remember that everything costs money & thats what stresses me out most.

we go through spurts of stress since we're out of state whenever we go to NY we try to get as much done as possible... making our trips to NY not as fun as i'd like them to be!!! But other then that its not too stressful :)

Within two months of being engaged we had almsot everything booked. I haven't really stressed out about finding any vendors, but that is because we left ourselves plenty of time. Some vendors start booking up as quickly as 1.5 years beforehand. I think prioritizing vendors is important, for example photography should be done somewhere in the beginning, and you can hold off on others like limousines.

We got engaged Memorial Day weekend and booked our hall at the end of June, so a month later. Only reason we booked so quickly was because we knew we wanted to get married in October and most places were already booked around that month....if you don't have a specific timeframe, you still have time!! Right before we signed the contract, we called the church to make sure that day and time were available, so we booked that also.....Since then, we have yet to book things although the appointments with vendors just started this weekend!!

Enjoy your engagement for a while then let the planning begin!

im calm most of the time, but at times i do get stressed.
my biggest thing is trying to pace myself..we got engaged in october, and wanted to enjoy our engagement and the holidays, so nothing was booked until january when we booked our hall-then it was decently slow bc i was finishing my masters
i then made a list of literally EVERY little thing that needs to be done, and since may, ive been doing something every 3 days to make sure everything is done on time..but it can be anything from booking a vendor to making a must take photo list

We got engaged in May and booked our RH in July. I was really stressed about finding a RH but so glad that I found the one we did. I'm still researching photographers, DJ's and florists, but I havent booked anything else. So I guess I really need to get a move on it-but I'm also trying to just enjoy being engaged as well!
