we always get really great baskets or gifts i started getting a fruit basket at about 10 lol even then i was watching my weight lol nah i just wasnt a candy fan we would always get dressed up i was usually in lavender i guess thats why it became my fav color. we would go to church either english ir polish mass depending on if dad got his way or not and then we would come home and my cousins would come over and we get another basket and if weather was permitting we would change our clothes and get to 0play outside. there would always be this huge feast that we had to take to church to have blessed it was usually kielbasa and sauerkraut and lasagna and a ham or turkey with all the fixings and lots of desserts. i miss those days so much

Re: what were your easters as a child like
I loved Easter morning We have 4 kids in our family...and we're all really close in age.....so it was always fun. 1. Wake up and get ready for the easter egg hunt....whoever found the most eggs won 2. Easter Basket hunt....my parents got creative as the years went on - one year they were in thr trunk of the car....and it was raining out 3. Easter egg roll...line up the eggs on opposite ends of the living room....split up into teams (usually boys and girls) and roll a tennis ball to knock the other team's eggs out of the line....whichever team knocks out all of the eggs first wins.
Then we'd have breakfast
My dad never had traditions as a kid...and always wanted them - so he decided when we were very young that each holiday had to have traditions and we stuck with them as long as we lived at home

I remember Easters as a kid as getting dressed up in my easter best (a some frilly pink thing from TSS complete with bonnet and matching patent leather shoes & bag), going to church/Sunday school and making a cross out of sugar cubes, etc. Then going to grandma's for Easter dinner, complete with a huge basket of junk and a blow up bunny from Woolworths. Ahhh, the good old days!!

It was so fun! We'd always go to my grandma's and find our baskets there. She has a co-op, so there wasn't much room to hide them! They were always in the oven or behind the towels in the bathroom or in the tub! We also used to go to the Bronx Zoo sometimes where they had easter egg hunts and games. Lots of fun. Loved easter growing up. But my brother used to steal my candy so I would hide it and then forget where I hid it and find it the next easter...

Re: what were your easters as a child like
My Easters were fun. I remember I always wore a new dress with a hat and little white gloves and little purse. If it was at my parents' house, we just opened the Easter baskets and went to church and then came home and had a big Italian dinner.
If we had it on my grandmother's farm in Ohio, all of my cousins came and we all went on an Easter egg hunt around the farm (well, we only hunted on about an acre of the property) and my grandmother (the one who just died ) would have prepared a big dinner with a Turkey and a ham and all of the fixings. She made pies and homemade chocolate bunny lollipops and we had Easter baskets and little stuffed bunnies.
DH grew up in Poland, so he was telling me recently of how he and his family would fast all day on Good Friday and not eat until after they brought their basket of food to church to be blessed on Holy Saturday. Sunday was a brunch, church and relaxing and Monday was a holiday where the kids would pour buckets of water on each other (smingos dingos or something?)
