What will you call FILs?

i call my FMIL 'Mimi' not like the Rent character more like the wrong pronounciation of Mommy. That is what FH, FBIL, and FH's niece all call her.

I call them all (I have 4) by their first names. I don't see that changing. Actually, it's funny because I don't really call FFIL anything. FH and I have been together a little over 5 years and I don't know....something about the way I was raised I feel I should still call him Mr. XYZ. It's like I can't actually bring myself to call him by his first name. So I just don't call him anything. I love him to pieces, he's great, I just feel weird. So I just manage to approach every conversation with him directly so I don't have to use any name at all.

Crazy as it sounds, I still say FH's dad. I know, it's ridiculous. I really need to get over my hang-up already.

def mom and dad...they always refer to themselves as that when they speak to me, which I always thought was so nice

I know everyone is diff.. and has diff relationships with their in-laws butI will never call Fh's mother 'Mom' I have a mom.. and I hateeeeeeeee when my sister in law calls my mom 'Mom' I want to punch her..

wow that sounds bad.. hahaha I'm not really that mean hahaha

FH's grandfather is the patriarch in his family, i don't know FH's biological dad and his step dad who raised him passed away 2 years before we met.
I have no idea what to call him, so i dont call him anything. I just address him directly, and when i refer to him, i call him FH's Grandfather

FH's grandfather is the patriarch in his family, i don't know FH's biological dad and his step dad who raised him passed away 2 years before we met.
I have no idea what to call him, so i dont call him anything. I just address him directly, and when i refer to him, i call him FH's Grandfather

What if you called him Pop or something? None of my grandparents are living and I've always called FH's grandma & grandpa and aunt & uncle

im in the same boat.. FH doesnt call his Step dad 'dad' and I have been calling his mom and step dad by their first names for close to 10 years.

i dont mind saying mom and dad.. BUT since FH doesnt call his step dad 'dad' how could i call him by his name and his mom 'mom'

so confusing haha

did that make sense?

Yes it makes sense. My mom always called my dad's dad papa` because that's how you call him dad in Italian. To me he was always nonno. My dad always called my mom's parents mom and dad, because it was something different than what he called his parents.
