WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH YOUR DRESS AFTER THE WEDDING

I am not keeping my dress, I am going to sell my dress to a consignment shop or on EBAY. What are you ladies doing with yours??

Happy planning

I have been asking myself this question for weeks now:) I know I will have it cleaned and preserved properly and probably end up selling it also.

Or I might cut off the skirt and have a gorgeous shell to wear for fancy occasions and make I don't know a tablecloth or something out of the skirt LOL.

j/k about the table cloth part - not necessarily the cutting the dress in half part.

My aunt had her dress cut up and made into a money bag, hankerchief, photoalbum etc for her daughters for their weddings - so I will save my dress and hopefully use it similarly in the future.

I am having the train made into a Christian gown. Then I will have the main gown preserved and put away. My little girls might want to play dress up someday.

I got married a month ago and took my dress to get cleaned, preserved and boxed. My mom bought it for me and it was on the expensive side, so I would never think of selling it. My mom still has hers after 33 years. I have toyed with the idea of making it into a Christening gown, but I’ll have to revisit that thought when the time comes. I wonder how many of you girls will change your mind about selling after the big day. I know I did!!

I could never think of partig with my dress! I know I will only wear it once (I plan to wear it all day long and not take it off until I HAVE to), but I guess I'm just a sucker for sentimental things. I will box it and save it, perhaps for my daughter, or just to remember it one day. Hopefully I will be able to take it out on our 50th anniversary~ (wishful thinking)

Re: WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH YOUR DRESS AFTER THE WEDDING

It's been over 8 months since we got married, and my gown is still hanging in my closet in the same place where I left it after we had our outdoor shots redone the week after our wedding. (Lucky me got to wear my gown twice, since it rained on our wedding day).

The main reason I haven't had it cleaned and preserved yet is because I am completely afraid of bringing it somewhere and it getting ruined. Since the wedding, we have had a ton of bad luck with businesses and the jobs they are 'supposed' to be doing, that I'm in that 'once bitten, twice shy' mode .. although it's been more like 4 or 5 times bitten, by different companies.

Can anyone suggest a good place that specializes in wedding gown preservation? The key word being 'specializes.' Something about me doesn't really feel comfortable bringing it to the neighborhood dry cleaner.

You can check Meurice Garment Care in Manhasset. I got something in the mail from them and I've heard they do good work in preserving your gown.

I would definatly get references for this. there was a place in my hometown that was preserving dresses and if you know about gown preservation they put it in this box and you can not open it, once air gets to it its not preserved anymore.. so this place was not putting the dresses in the boxes and in some cases not preserving them correctly (they turn yellow when not done right) so make sure you know who you are bringing it to...
