What woman need to know

This isnt to scare anyone. A friend sent it to me and I wanted to share with all my LIW friends. It is always better to be safe then sorry.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide to New Orleans: if a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you.... chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car: Kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc. DON'T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
a. Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.
b. If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
c. Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs.(Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot).

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) in 100 times; And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT! It may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

Maybe I am just a paranoid person in general, but I am proud to say, I abide by most of these! Also, never walk with your head down, it makes you look vulnerable to predators. Keep thse chins up!

I am very paranoid. I have my can of pepper spray always on me and unlocked, I always look in the car before I get in it, I park as fa away as I can in a lot where their arent many other cars this way god for bid something happens I can drive off quickly and not have to worry about obstacles (something my dad taught me)

Its a scary world out there.

I do the same thing with the keys.

We live in an apartment building and sometimes people forget to slam the second door into the building or leave a book or something wedged in the door so they can get back in and I ALWAYS kick the book and slam the door. I hear so many horror stories on the news about how people sneak into someone's apartment building.

I kept telling my landlord how I dont feel safe at night when FI isnt home and I saw a weird person lurking around the neighborhood and I just dont like it. So he recently our put a camera in the hallway facing the door. I feel a little better with the camera but some people in the building just dont learn and still leave the door with a wedge in it.

I do the keys too!

I also always feel in my back seat if it is dark...and ALWAYS lock the car door when I am driving...DH laughs at me (b/c when hes in the car he thinks he is there to protect me), but its really just force of habit now...

Chippa...my roommate and I got in trouble at my old place for not holding the door open for someone!! but I was a big defender of...no key...no entry... **** coops

I do the same thing, no key no entry.

We had a new person move in and they were carrying boxes. I didnt know them and I wouldnt let them in. They got mad that I wouldnt hold the door for them, but sorry no key no entry.

I wont even let the landlord in the apartment unless FI is home. He is really nice and he knows I wont let him in and he will always ask me when FI will be home if he needs to do repairs.

How do the girls in the office follow the rule of not taking the elevator with men if you're alone?

I work in a huge building, and while its unlikely that someone woudl rape me during a work day, I am so leery of staying really late!!! But even during workday, I don't like to be with other men in elevator, but you can't really say 'no'!!!

I try my best to press the door close button asap.

I usually let the elevator pass or I'll hit the close door buttons really fast. If a guy gets on and I get a real weird feeling about him, I'll look up at the camera, then push another floor button and get off on that floor and wait for another elevator.

** There is also always a latch inside the trunk so you can open it from the inside. Each car is different but they say to remain calm and to look for it, you will find it*** In all new cars, it is now a law to have it clearly marked so it is easily found**

I saw it on a couple of shows. I think I saw it last on that new Lifetime show 'What would you do' or something like that. It is good to know, I would ahve never known that.
