My best friend and I have the same crystal. And this past Christmas her mom completed her set from Macy's since she got married a few years ago. When the glasses were shipped to her 1/2 of them arrived broken. She called Macy's and they just sent her new glasses but didn't want the broken ones back. So she saved the broken ones in there boxes knowing I have the same pattern, thinking maybe I could do something with them --- maybe try and exchange them to a store that carries them.
The question is: should I try to take them to a store and return them saying they were broken in transit?
I'm registered for them at Fortunoff's -- but I know BBB and Macy's carries them. But there are always people that look up your registry and buy some items at a local store instead. A few guests did this for our e-party
Any suggestions from all of the resourceful brides on here?
it wouldn't hurt to try... the worst case is they won't take them back.

that's what I thought!! I just have no receipt at all since they weren't mine -- do you think they'll ask for one? that's what I am nervous about

You can always say someone bought them for you as a gift, but for some reason it wasn't taken off your registry. I got tons of gifts not on my registry and had no problem returning or exchanging things.

Actually, no, I wouldn't. Even if they would exchange them without a receipt (doubtful), it's incredibly dishonest.

I have to agree with last post..rather sneaky and unforunately in my experience, naughty behavior always comes back to you in SPADES! Is it really worth testign fate for a few bucks saved?

Not to mention the fact that it amounts to stealing. Oh, and it's illegal!
