I'm getting married on a friday night. I have 4 jewish guests that did not hand in the rsvp but they said they are coming and then leaving early bc of the holiday (im not sure whats its called shiva). When i asked around what time the one guy said 730 8. well my ceremony is at 6 and then cocktail is from 630-8. so should i include them i nthe number of guests when they prob wont be at the dinner? i dont want to be rude to them at all and if they dont see a seating placecard for them would that be rude?

I would ask them if they would like to have dinner with the rest of the guests. If they can stay for a little while, it would be nice to give them a placecard. They may only stay for salad or a drink, but at least they made an effort to come....

Its called the Sabbath. Most likely they will only stay until the cocktail hour, if that long. Are they very religious?

I'm not sure if they are religious.. they always leave work on fridays (originally with the excuse to be home before sundown.. but they do it during the summer months as well) so im not sure if they do it bc they are religious or they know they can leave work early

I had a similar situation. If they are really religious, they have to be in before sundown on Fridays. I spoke to my guests about it and I did not count them in my final #, nor did I give them a place card. Discuss it with those guests just to make sure.

During the winter i can see them leaving early, summer no excuse, sundown isn't until like 8-830
I just looked up your date. Sunset is at 6:47. If they were religious at all, they wouldnt come at all.

I would include them just incase they're having a good time and decide to stay.
It would also be a good idea to call and ask if they plan on staying for Dinner.
