We started to get our guest list together and already are over the # of guest we wanted at the wedding. We are starting to make some cuts. The question is I have a friend who I went to HS with. At this point we hardly speak. However. I was invited to her wedding two years ago. Now am I obligated to invite her?

Re: What would you do?
There are sooo many people who's weddings I was invited to that are not invited to mine. If you haven't spoken in a year, forget about it and move on.

You are not OBLIGATED to do anything....sorry for that, just a little venting of my own. However, if you really have lost touch, you don't need to reciprocate the invite.

Re: What would you do?
I know what you are going through. I have a friend that I feel like I have to invite even though we hardly ever talk. We were friends for 13 years, but for the past 2 years the only time she calls me is when she is having drama!!!!
I'm thinking about cutting her..but don't know.

The last time I spoke to her was last year right after I got engaged and we haven't spoken since then. So I hope she is not expecting an invite.

Re: What would you do?
I would put her on the 'B' list. If you get enough 'no' responses, then I would send her an invite.

You aren't obligated to invite her at all. But do keep one thing in mind. The 'average' percentage of NO rsvp's is 20% so you WANT to invite more people than you ultimately want to have at the wedding because many people will say no or not be able to attend.
We invited areound 230 and ended up with 180, which was exactly what we wanted.

Re: What would you do?
NO...and if she asks why she wasnt invited you just tell her you wanted a small wedding...people should be happy for your marriage, not happy because they got invited to the actual reception. YOu could always let her know you were keeping it small, but give her the info to attend the church (if you are doing that?)

Nope. You are not obligated to invite ANYONE. I am only inviting close friends and family who I want to share our day. I am also not inviting '& guest' unless it's a serious relationship (spouse/engaged/long -term relationship).

How often is hardly ever? If your not afraid of never talking to her again don't invite her but if you think it will be an issue I wouldn't exclude her.

I agree completely. Especially if you're not planning on continuing a relationship with her, why invite her when you can invite someone more meaningful?

Re: What would you do?
I haven't spoken to her in a year, but prior to her inviting me to her wedding we hadn't spoken in 6 months, so I was actually suprised that I was invited to hers.

Re: What would you do?
I feel that if you haven't been in contact for someone for a year or so, you should not feel obligated to invite them to your wedding even if you assisted theirs.
