What would you do?

What would you do?

I have 2 MOH's - my 2 sisters. one is a complete B**** and couldn't care less about me or the wedding. the other lives 3000 miles away and hardly ever calls me.

today my mom tells me to stop talking about my wedding because it bores her.

my immediate family is good for NOTHING! I have zero support from any of them. Example....my mom doesn't drive on highways because she's a chicken. and because of that, she missed going with me to try on wedding gowns. a moment we will never be able to re-live. (I would have had to go all the way to get her 30 miles away just to bring her near where I live very early on a Saturday, so she said to forget it)

I am so upset and really don't feel like going through with this AT ALL!

if it were not for my best friend (a bridesmaid) and my FH, I would have called this f'ing thing off already. who needs this crap?!

what would you do? I really need some advice.

It's crazy how immediate families could give two $hits!!! Unfortunately I have no advise to give...just hugs. I totally understand how much it hurts. Sorry, I wish there was something I could do for you...

I never thought my wedding would cause me so much stress, aggravation and hurt. I am so close to calling this thing off and getting eloped, which is what we wanted to do in the first place.

Try not to let it get to you. I know that's easy for me to say but this is about you and FH and don't let anyone's jealous, or pettyness make you forget that. I had issues with my sister (she 'dropped out' of the wedding) brothing in Calif. who wanted to fly in the morning of my wedding in February! and the mother in law from h*ll BUT I tried my best to remember what this day is about and to say scr*w them.

Also try to avoid things that could potentially hurt you. Don't ask you Mom to do anything with you, or your sister. Who needs the grief?

Oh and.....

I am SO sorry you are going through this. I know how you feel because I have some family members (BM by the way) who cound'nt give a sh*t either they don't ask about it or anything at all.

My mother had to plan the whole shower by herself with some help from me because nobody would get off there a** to do anything. So yes now I know when my shower is and where it is at because I had to help my mother find the place to have it at. Believe me it ***** I don't know why they act like this I wish I had an explanation for it all.

I mean you talk about getting married all your life with your family and when it finally happens everybody acts funny. I think with some of my family members it jealousy because I am getting married first I don't know.

SOrry So Long I had to VENT Don't worry stick with it your almost to the HONEYMOON

Im going through something very similar. Although your down now, pick yourself up and find the strength within to carry you through this. You dont need these negative people in your life so your better off without them. Concentrate on your dear FH and walking down the aisle. Hang in there for now and be sure to rely on us for support. We are all here to listen to all the details!!

Is it possible to do? Where you wouldn't lose that much money? It might be worth it...especially being it was what you both wanted to do. It really does hurt...like you said..this should be a time when your family should be supportive and happy! It's a wonderful time in your life...something you both will remember forever...you don't want to remember bickering, etc. Is your family usually like this? My Brother and Father is so I don't really fill them in on things about the wedding...I just say this is it and that's that! My Mom passed away 4 years ago, so I don't have her to enjoy things with. I'm lucky enough to have a really great Great Aunt and Cousin that is so excited and only wants to talk about the wedding. It's one thing to expect a Brother and Father to not be 'into' it, but I really feel for you...Your Mom and Sisters should want to make this day extra special for you.

normally I would agree, but the negative people in my life are both my sisters and my mom. who needs this crap?

Re: What would you do?

I can't really give advice either, just my sympathy. Except for my sister (who is throwing my bridal shower), my family & FHs are pretty uninvolved actually. We're paying the bills, I've been trying on dresses by myself (my sister can't take much time off work or she would come with me), and sometimes, I wish they were a little more involved and interested. But the plus side is that they are not getting in our way either. I hear a lot of brides complaining about their families taking over. Maybe that might give a slightly positive spin to the situation.

I know it *****, and it would be nice to have fmaily get involved a bit. Maybe tell them how you feel, explain how important this day is to you, and then let it go. They'll either respond, or they won't.

How terrible that you have to deal with this type of attitude on what is supposed to be the happiest time for you. Please don't let it get it to you. Enjoy your planning, share with us so we can enjoy it with you.

Not sure if you saw my drama, but here it is in a nutshell .
It hurts that my mom cant be happy for me, but with the help of all my LIWB's, I realize Im better off not discussing my wedding with her because it will all lead to aggravation. When I start getting upset about my mom, I just think about the vows I'll be making to my FH, and thats all that really matters. It s*cks that your mom is being like this, but it will be even worse if you let her win. If you ever need to talk, feel free to fm me. We're both strong women and we'll both get through this.

I'm so sorry to hear that. There have been times that i've felt like my mom and sister don't give a rat's a** about what i'm doing, but i try to focus more on the reason why i'm going through all this, and that is because i'm marrying the best guy in the world. here's a hug

So sorry to hear what you're going through. It's the worst when people who are supposed to be helping the most can't get it together.

Glad to hear that you have some people you can count on though! And yay for your supportive FH!
