We are inviting 250 people to our wedding. My list is around 50 (I have a really small family) and FI has 200. My question is: How do I handle seating arrangements at the church? I feel like it is going to be like 4 people on the Bride’s and 20,000 on the Groom’s side (OK I’m exaggerating, but you get the picture)
Thanks!

Re: What would you do?
I've been to weddings where they knew that would be the case and the GM's tried to distribute it evenly. At one wedding, they put all the friends and co-workers on the bride's side and it looked pretty even.

Maybe you could instruct the ushers to seat people evenly on both sides.

Honestly? I have never been to a wedding where an usher asks which side I am to sit on. I go where I want.

I think people will sit where they want. To be honest, it makes sense to sit on the 'wrong' side anyway, you get a better view and not just the back of the bride or groom's head...
On a more serious note, I had a similar situation, my fiance had less people than me and during the reception we mixed everyone up. We didn't do a bride and groom's side. There were mixed tables on either side. IMO I never understood this whole'side' thing... After all, this is the time where you want the families to mix and mingle. We sat the parents of the bride and groom together at the same table. It worked out great!
We didn't mix people within their tables though, except for the parents.

This sounds like a good plan to me!

Re: What would you do?
My MOH did this at her wedding and it worked out. Good point on the 'back-of-head' thing. Maybe I'll seat our guest on the opposite sides so they can see the person whose side they are on from the front!! Hmm...

Re: What would you do?
The last few wedding I have been to the ushers did ask whose side..but we are going to have the same dilemma We are going to have the ushers tell people 'there are no sides since we are joining two families' and see what happens
You could also only decorate the first few pews in the church and ask the ushers to seat row by row from the second row on
