What would you do?

What would you do?

Would you invite an old friend to your wedding and shower if:

2 years ago, she was invited to another friends wedding and responded yes +1 and then called our bride friend the DAY of the wedding and said sorry, I cant come anymore. Never even sent a card.

and

She was invited to my engagement party responded yes, and like 1 hour into the party, she called to say, sorry, I got home from work a little while ago and am really tired, so i can't come anymore.

I would probably send the invitation anyway and then if you do not get a response back from her like 10 days before the wedding I would call and see if she is coming. If you get a response and it says she will be there but then doesn't show up.......then I would say don't invite her to another event in your life.
Give her another chance, she might prove you wrong....

Is her name Katie? Is she my ex-BM??? That's exactly what she did...guess what??? NO INVITE!!!!! Unreliable guests like that are in reality, bad friends. I have actually cut ties after I learned that the reason she cancelled on my e-party hours before it began was because she just sat at home on a Saturday night instead of driving 6 minutes from her apt. to eat a free, elegant dinner!!! I was ok until I learned that....she told me she had to work!
But this is JMO...do what you wish...if you do invite her and she says yes, I would honestly NOT count on her arriving and plan around it just in case! It would probably be easier to owe for a plate (or 2) more at the end of the reception b/c someone showed up 'unexpectedly' than to pay for someone who didn't come at all!!

i don't think i would invite her... shes done this twice- thats a bad track record- or, i might invite her, and even if she responds yes, sort of cuont on her not coming when you do your head count/tables.... somehow work it where theres room for her if she comes, but you don't owe anything if shes a 'no show'
i know ALL about rude guests... we had one that called the day before saying she was bringing a date, we had one who was just invited by herself but sent back the response card as '2 people will attend' AND THEN we had DHs aunt, uncle, and 2 cousins who drove all the way from PA to come to the ceremony, but then for a weird reason i'm not gonna get into, didn't drive over to the reception so that was a family of 4 PEOPLE that we paid for that didn't eat- wasn't cool at all!! the only thing that kept me from flipping out is that ILs paid for their side, so it wasn't my money... but still!!

Personally I wouldn't invite her. I hold a grudge FOREVER. So...

You could invite her and mark her down as no just in case she pulls the dissappearing act again.

send her the invite, but count her as a 'no'. You can always ADD, you can't take away.

jeez... some people just don't get it. We're doing this for one of our guests, too, because we don't want to lose the $$.

I wouldn't send an invite - save your money.
