all my bridesmaids are getting the impression separates with the same skirt. I am letting them all pick out their tops. I would like them to all be in either all straps or all strapless. 3 of the BM got strapped tops, the other one wants to get a strapless (she is the last one). Would this bother you or would you make her get a strapped one?

Well you said you were letting them choose their top right? I guess if I was letting them choose and one decided to go the other route, I wouldn't be upset. I don't think it would bother me. JIMO

I was thinking of doing this with Alfred Angelo seperates when I first started looking. I have only seen it were the girls weren't similar, some with straps some without. It looked nice because it fit all of their personal styles and their shape. However, if you want it to look more uniform I would just tell the one bridesmaid you prefer all straps. I'm sure she'll understand.

my best friend did that when she got married she let us chose between 2 tops only though and we all picked the same one with strapes one girl picked the strapless but then my best frind though it would look weird with one strapless so we all winded up withthe same dress.
me personaly i would maybe ask her to go with something then with strapes but thats just my opinion good luck

I only had 3 BMs but I let them pick whatever they wanted. 2 were in strapless and MOH had straps. It's what made them comfortable, so I figured why not.
i think that either they all have the same, all have different or the just the MOH should be different. i hope that makes sense. to have 3 BM in one and 1 in another it makes the different one stand out.
all my girls are gonna wear the same dress except MOH is wearing a darker version of the color the girls are wearing

i wouldnt make waves. you told them to pick what they like - let them.
if it really bothers you though - ask your 1 BM how she would feel about matching the other girls. if she is set on the strapless than leave it alone - or she may not care all that much and get the straps.

well u told them to pick and that was her pick so i would just leave it, personally id rather my bm be comfortable after all they're wearing it and plus not everything looks good on everyone you know but thats just me

Well I am gonna let them pick whether they want straps or not...Girls are shaped very differently, and if alot of them want strapless i cant make the girls who are big on top go strapless if they won't be comfortable...I am big on top and wouldn't want to be forced to wear something if I will be uncomfortable all night and pulling up my dress the entire time...I dont know if that is the case with your girls and if thats why some of them would want straps.

Well honestly....I'm all for the Bride does whatever she wants & everything. But you did say that they can pick out their tops. So just because 3/4 of the girls want straps and the last one wants strapless, I don't think its fair that the majority counts. I think the last BM will get alittle upset.
But I dunno, personally, I had separates myself, and all my BM & my MOH hated the original skirt I picked because it wasn't flattering at all. So I said to myself 'well whatever this is the BM dress theres nothing wrong w/ it.' Then I saw what a huge MESS it turned out to be, fights & everything, and I said that they can change the skirts but I wanted them in all the same skirts ans gave them 2 options. I asked all the Bm & MOH to come down and vote on 1 of these 2. 2 of the BM could only come with me, [and they were on DH's side] so they liked them both, 1 liked the A-Line and the other 1 liked the A-Line organza, I like the A-Line organza better. So I said thats what it was going to be. I was also very annoyed that the other girls couldnt and didnt make the effort to come since they needed to go down there anyway to be re-sized.
So personally, I don't know...its up to you. If you want her in the same thing, just do it in a suttle way and try not to be offensive....
If I were to have a different dress than I picked, I would have allowed them to do either strapless, halter or straps, probably...but thats just me and my BM dress was strapless anyway. And if the women are alittle heavy, they can always wear a shawl.

If it's all the same color and fabric, I don't think having one strapless would look weird. Lots of bridal parties aren't completely uniform these days. One set of straps will not be a big deal, and you'll have a happier bridesmaid. Some people just don't feel comfortable in strapless. Personally, I think the totally uniform bridesmaid thing went out in the Sixties. My bridal party is wearing three quite different dresses, but they're all navy. I'm sure it will look great in the end.

well, I let the other BM choose the strapless one, and one other girl changed her top from straps to strapless... so it all worked out without me even having to say anything.. so 2 girls with and 2 girls without straps.
