I'm torn. part of me says to eat it and go, since I presume, it's either your or Mike's brother wife we are talking here....

Honestly, its not even a close relative of yours or MIke's...and its your first year anniversary...I say go to the B&B, enjoy yourself, but send an arrangement and your condolences...I'm 100000% sure she won't hold it against you.![]()

It depends, how close are you with your SIL? If close, then you should eat the $$ and go be supportive of her loss. If not, then I think sending an arrangement is fine.

I agree with the girls here.
It depends on your relationship. If you're close, then make the sacrifice. Otherwise, send an arrangement and enjoy your anniversary.

Even knowing that you're close, I still think you should go on your trip and send flowers, etc. Especially since you already discussed it with your SIL....I am sure that NO ONE would hold that against you.
On the other hand, you seem like you really want to attend the funeral. If you think it would bother you that much not to go, (would it ruin your weekend b/c you feel guilty or you want to be with your friend?) then you have your answer right there!
