What would you do?

What would you do?

If your sister was a single mom of 3 and struggled with money would you offer to uy her dress for the wedding?

My sister is forever complaining she has no money, however she makes good money plus gets some child support. She goes out on the weekends and always goes tanning and gets her hair done.

I have been on her for months now to go order her dress for the wedding and she keeps telling me she has no money.

I feel it would be wrong to not have her in the wedding party, so I offered to pay for her dress.
I also already bought her daughters dress shes our flower girl.

I CANNOT tell FH I am going to pay for her dress he will FLIP!

What would you girls do?

I would probably pay for her drss nd not tell my fh.

It is your sister, whats the big deal really? And at least the dress can be ordered and you won't have to wait anymore

I'm in a similar situation right now....that's a toughie...it seems like she should be able to pay for her dress being that she's spending money on tanning and getting her hair done...why should you have to pay for her when you have your own wedding to pay for?? But then again, she's your sister...and what is more important, what's right or having her in your wedding? That's tough..ultimately, you have to decide what you're willing to put up with...I can't really help you

you would start off your marriage by lying? that doesn't seem right.

i guess i would tell her that if she wants to be in the bridal party, she has to buy her dress by a certain date......OR, tell FH that she is your sister and this is something you have to do.
i wouldn't lie, nor would i convince myself that it was not a lie, by just not saying anything.
my 2c.

I agree I think I just ont say anything. This would start a HUGE fight because I always bail her out of everything. FH is the one who makes all the money because I was in school for the past year so he supports me until I get my nursing license and I can start working. He is not real fond of my sister he just tolerates her because he loves me.

that's a really good point, and I agree...communication is important, so why not start making a habit of it now instead of hiding...just let him now that it's really important to have your sister in your wedding...he can't get mad at that..

FH and I are paying for his sister's dress. She also is pretty strapped for cash these days and we don't want her being in the bp to be a burden to her already tight financial issues. It's ok to do this but I would feel weird doing it and not telling FH, JMO
