What would you do???

What would you do???

Ok...so here is my situation, I am a leave replacement at an elementary school. This is my 3rd year being a leave and the school I am at now isn't the best...the administration is tough and not for the teachers.
I saw that another district is looking for a reading teacher in their middle school (and I LOVE middle school...taught it last year at another district and just loved it!) The district that is hiring, the position in a permanent position but I am not sure when it starts....if it starts this school year should I take it in the case that I get it???

I stress myself out over things like this and I haven't even applied yet, I don't even have an interview and my stomach is in knots trying to decided what to do as if I was offered the job!

I'm a such a worrier!!! I just feel bad leaving my kids, I don't want to burn a bridge, BUT.... I don't want to be a leave replacement again!!! It is hard to try to buy a house when you don't know where you will be the following the year.....and I am just so sick of interviewing...if I got the permanent position I wouldn't have to worry about that. HELP

My FH is currently looking for an elem ed position and it's soooo hard. i say that if you get a PERM position, you take it! you have to worry about you!

Thanks girls!! It is so hard...I am a reading teacher and there are like 2 per building if you are lucky and you have to wait for people to retire just to get in.... it is nuts!!! I am going to try! It will make my life so much easier to not have to worry about where I will be the following year if I did get the position!

And districts certainly don't care about your best interests so I shouldn't be putting their needs before mine!

I say go for it, you have to worry about you and your future. Change is usually hard but, think about it as moving up. I really hope you get it

You definitely have to think about YOU at times like this!!! I have to admit I'm not familiar with the school systems since I'm not a teach, but am I right to assume that you won't be guaranteed a job next year as a leave replacement?

You've got a wedding and a mortgage to think about!!! The kids will be fine and I think the school district would understand your reason for taking the permanent job.

I agree with the other girls, while its a hard decision, you should think about yourself first.

If I were you I wouldn't hesitate. Send your resume out and try and get an interview. You have to concentrate on you and what your needs are right now. I know you hate to leave your kids but right now you need permanent stability.

if you have a shot at a permanent position, you MUST go for it. in the end, the school is not going to make any sacrifices for you, so there's NO reason for you to allow this to pass you by without at least exploring it, ESPECIALLY with the market the way it is. good luck!

I agree with everyone else that you need to worry about yourself first. If the district you are in isn't willing to help you out and you don't know what your status will be next year then you need to look elsewhere.
