What would you do?

What would you do?

Okay, so I have this friend and we were best friends growing up from the time we were 5 years old until about 8th grade. Since then, we have talked on and off and we go through spurts of seeing eachother and talking often, and then we're quiet for a while.

Sooo.. the problem is she got engaged a little before my sister did and she helped my sister with her wedding. My sister made her a bridesmaid since they became close and their husbands get along great.

Really, she was always my friend and now I am wondering if I should put her in my BP since my sister did. She helped me so much in planning everything for my sister and it was nice having her around and talking to her. I'm just not sure because we really don't hang out outside of a group, but we talk on the phone and about the wedding a few times a month.

Do you think I should I you put her in my BP?

Has she been helping you with your wedding?

Re: What would you do?

I'm kind of in the same situation, and i go back and forth with this all the time. At first I would say no, but then in my gut I feel like I would be dissapointed for not having her there as oone of my closest on the most important day of my life. Although you don't see her that much you have to ask yourself, is it someone you would want to be surrounded on that day....and my answer is always yes!!!! So i would say go for it, plus even if you talk a couple time a month about the wedding she defintetly shows she cares!

Good Luck with your decision and if she has been helpful in the past and is still now...just imagine how great she will be with all your pre wedding day stress

My best advice actually came from FH when I was trying to decide who should be our wedding party. He said, only put the girls that you can see being friends with through the years. And he's right. To me, I don't know your relationship fully with your friend, but it does seem like it's been through a lot and you still are close, so if you can see yourself friends with her in 20 years, then I would. If you feel like you are drifting away and are only including her cause you feel obligated, then I'd say no.
I hope this helps.

Re: What would you do?

Thank you girls! All of your points were very true. I defintely do see myself being friends with her in 20 years, she will probably just never be the friend that I talk to ALL the time about everything, but I see her in my life forever. I guess that's enough in itself, right? lol

She really has become closer to my sister since they went through everything at the same time together and their guys have become best friends in the last 2 years. I just didnt want to have her in the BP just because my sister did, but because I wanted her there. I just hope she will become closer to me again through the next year, because I'm sure she will try to help and be there when she can. I really would like to be closer again. I just feel like the few times I have tried to hang out with her something happens where it doesnt work.

She really was so amazing with helping me for my sister. I mean she's the one where on my sister's wedding day she was following her around and fixing my sister's dress, and giving her advice. She would always be the one to go get something if we needed it, and I know having her there would only be pleasant and helpful. She helped plan and pay for my sisters shower and her husband set it all up. We went dress shopping with her and everything.

I guess I just wasnt sure if we talked enough to put her in, but I think I got it. Thank you for putting things into perspective!

I just started really booking stuff recently, but whenever I tell her about a website or my ideas she goes online and checks it out and lets me know what she thinks

Well it sounds like even though you aren't as close as you use to be, you are still pretty close and sometimes it takes a special moment like this to bring you even closer. And I hope it does
