What would you do...

What would you do...

I hate my engagement pics. Fast forward 3 weeks and I find out that my photographer ducked out of a wedding of a friend 45 minutes early. Today I saw proofs from two other weddings and they are AWFUL. I'm so upset. My parents offered to pay for it, and they already put down a big fat deposit. What would you do?

Update: I talked to my mom. Her reaction was 'Do you think we should try to get out of the contract? I think we should' I love my mom Thanks for the great advice girls.

i would talk to your parents and let them know you are unhappy. being happy with your pictures is SOOO important. let them know the problems you had and i'm sure they will understand. good luck!!!

trust you instinct. I would address you concerns first and bring to their attention about them leaving earlier. See if you apply the credit you have with them to something else like albums etc...

Like everyone says pictures are very important so you do not want to have no regrets in that area. If you search for another photographer maybe by explaining what happen to you they will be flexible in their package this will offset a little the deposit you may lose.

Re: What would you do...

ok.....first...why dont you like your engagement pics and what about the prrofs dont you like...
i mean...is it just you picking yourself apart like most of us do in pictures...or is their actual style...or the clarity of the pics???
can you elaborate?

I would try to get out of it. Your wedding pictures are too important.

ugh thats so stressful...have you reviewed the terms of your contract? Maybe you can let him know you are not happy and just pay for the engagement session to get out of it?

My pictures look flat. I dont know how to explain it otherwise (I'm no expert). The lighting isnt special looking, they look like pics I would take myself. The coloring is a grey-yellow (even our skin). There is actually an innocent bystander that is in the back of some of my pictures!!! I just feel awful about the deposit, and I'm not sure if asking to change photographers is just ungreatful and bridezilla-ish.

Either they change your photographer or lose your business. If they have other photographer ask them if you can redo your epics. They have to make you happy!!! Don't worry about being bridezillaish you are not getting this work for free. They have to do their best to accomodate

I would change and lose your deposit. Its better to lose a little money and be happy in the end than hate your wedding pics forever. JMO.

What does your contract say? Can you get your money back? If so, then I would cancel. If you aren't happy with your e-pics, imagine how you will feel if your wedding pics come out the same way. You shouldn't have to walk around with the fear that your photos aren't going to be all that you hope for, you should be able to feel confident in you photographer and if you don't then you deserve better. Sorry that you are dealing with this

If you are not happy with your pictures, I would seriously think about finding someone else. Have a talk with them first to see if anything can be done. Then, if not satisfied you should go elsewhere.

Re: What would you do...

Wow, that stinks...I'm glad you're going to take care of it though. But in terms of 'ducking out early'...did they really, or was that all they were contracted for?

For example, my photog told us right up front that they usually leave after the cake cutting. Which is ehh...but in the grand scheme of things, nothing usually major goes on after that. Maybe that's what happened?
