So apparently getting the same reception hall as one of your family members who got married there 12 years ago really is a big deal.
We're actually getting married a day before they did, but when the wedding is brought up it turns the whole conversation into how they get to eat there again for their anniversary. Now, I'm not trying to be a bridezilla about things, but this has been going on for months and I've kept my cool.
I'm seriously thinking of changing my date to another month and even the possibly of changing my hall because of them, but then that brings in a whole new set of problems....
What would you ladies do? Would you let it go? Would you say something? I need some advice. Maybe I am being way too sensitive about it, I don't know.

Re: What would you do?
I totally underdstand and that is the exact reason why i didnt book the millerage even though i loved it. But my cousins got married there like 15 years ago and i knew that they would go on and on about there's. But in 12 years things change at places , and you just have to make the reception your own , Maybe do something different like uplifting so when people come in they will be like wow it looks so much nicer in here then it did for so and so's wedding.

I would change the venue and date if you could. I honestly dont want to share my spot light with anyone. I think the topic of conversation would be how nice it is they are there again...just like you said.

That's really annoying- geez louise, it's cute to still be in awe over your wedding day but keep it between the two of you and let someone else enjoy it.
Ugh, they seem to be the type who will make comments comparing your wedding day with theirs after the fact too. But is this because it's the same place/date or just because they are the type of people who needs to direct the convo back to themself?
If it's just they way they are, then changing venue won't help. They'll still pipe up about their day and 'this brings back memories...yada yada'
If you love the venue and they are just in la la land, just ignore them.
If you think it's the venue/date then I'd consider changing it. Personally, I like having a wedding where its a new place for the guest etc. Even if I went to a friend or family member's wedding and thought it was spectaculor, I would not book it down the road. That's just my preference.

Re: What would you do?
Thanks ladies, this never really entered my mind when I booked the place. I mean they even did a whole face lift to the room that we're in (they were only in the room for CH) so it doesn't look anything remotely like their wedding (I saw wedding photos)
I think I'm going to call my BM today and see if there are any other dates available for a different month - so that it's not so close to their date....seeing as I have my last payment due to the reception hall in April....

give them a call.. if you really don't mind budging with your date, then maybe this will all work out.
remember, at the end of the day, it's YOUR wedding day. thinking about it now may make it seem like you'll obsess over it, but honestly, during the day, you might be so happy that you don't even remember...
