We received a gift for our e-party from a close family member & in the card it says 'to be used at your wedding'.....
I was going to register for my bridal shower this particular thing bc I wanted something personalized with hearts (bc i love hearts). How do we go about not using it or using what I wanted, or registering & getting what i want? Or do I suck it up & use this??

i would just use w/e YOU want. u can always lie if they say something like 'that was soo sweet of you but so & so alrdy gave us this one, but we cant wait to display yours'...they were prob just putting that in there to explain why they gave you the specific item more so than forcing you to use it lol..i wouldnt even stress it!

I think maybe they wrote that in the card as a cute comment. They might not be heart-set on you using it.

Do what YOU want. It's YOUR day. Don't suck it up! Just have your mother (or FMIL depending on the side of the family) tell them some story so that you don;t have to stress about it.

I wouldn't mention that I'm not using it... I would thank them and say it was very thoughtful and that you had been looking at ones just like it. When it comes to your actual wedding, use the one you want. Maybe you can use whatever they gave you in a diff way, and if not, maybe you can return it, sell it on here, regift it... etc.
This will probably happen to a lot of us more than once, we'll get something that we wanted but not the right one. If this was your birthday, if you weren't going to use it, you'd probably toss it. So don't let it make getting gifts stressful, this should be one of the no stress wedding parts! :)

I have an issue where one friend gave me a picture frame I adore (and really wanted.. it was on my registry).. but one of my old friends (she'll be a bm) also got me the same type of frame.. but a completely different style.. and def. not something my FH and I would pick out. Pretty, but not us. It's a picture frame though! For wedding photos.. so I just figured I'd put it out every time she comes over.

I'm assuming it flutes? I would use which ever you want, it's your day. Don't try to appease everyone because unfortunately you will never win that game...so do what you and FH want.

My mom got me flutes and spent way to much money on them... I think I would have went with a different set, but I love them b/c they are from my mom and she was sooo happy to give them to FH and I!

My mom bought us a cardbox and flutes last year. Very sweet and I love her dearly, but I want different flutes and a different cardbox . I'll tell her that I'm using hers for our first anny toast. Listen, it's my day, i'll do what I want! And she'll understand.
