What would you do?

What would you do?

Ok, so a not so close friend asked me for my address today and for FH's correct spelling of his last name... I have a feeling Im going to be getting a save the date and we will be invited to her wedding, she's getting married a few months before me....

The problem - I don't wanna go to her wedding, and I wasn't planning on inviting her to mine!

She's someone i haven't hung out with in a long time, but we have been chatting a lot on AIM lately - eeeeek

What the heck do I do now???!!!!

Has anyone been in this situation before??

Send the info, decline the RSVP and don't invite them. If they ask, tell them you had a small affair and you're sorry, you wish you could have sent an invite. Done.

I agree... don't start to feel compelled to invite people you weren't going to invite.

A few months ago I got an invite to the wedding of someone I went to college with, even if he got married while we were still in school I would have been shocked that he invited me, it really threw me for a loop. But I still have no plans on inviting him to mine (I did feel guilty and get them a really cheap present though).

completely agree & that is so funny i was just invited to a barely-friend's wedding this summer and declined b/c we are not even on that level lol but i did spend like 40 at BBB and got them a picture thing they registered for. def dont invite someone out of guilt that you are NOT close to!

Hmmm I guess im just feeling bad about it -

its annoying because since she got engaged she has said to me a few times 'you better be there... ' and stuff like that LOL

i hate being put on the spot.

I casually said FH is working that night bc i know his schedule way in advance....

I know how you feel because we made our preliminary list recently and I was doing a lot of 'well they invited me' and vice versa but we decided to just invite who we wanted to share our day and not be swayed by all that stuff.

HAHHAHAHAH

My FH and I had attended 10 weddings this year ... year!!!

Out of the 10 .... there was one invite we got that was a long time ex-employee of his... They had not spoken to for over a YEAR! I did not want to go but I lost that argument because FH felt bad since most of the other guys were going in his office.

Well I find out during the wedding all four couples at our table were not too thrilled to be there ... and each said they went because the other guys in the office were going.. ohhh boy

Well I could tell you I am definitely not having them on my invite list!!

Dont feel bad if you decline the RSVP... go on vacation that weekend

HAHAHA best part is - every year that week, im usually in Aruba - but since we are getting married 2 months later, Im not going to Aruba next year! So I did say to her once 'oh thats the week Im usually in Aruba'
OH thanks - I may have to use that excuse! Maybe I'll just HAVE to go to aruba anyway!

Yea, I am not spending the money I'm about to spend for my wedding, on people I don't really want there! Seriously!

Stay strong girlfriend!!! You are SO not an evil whatever you called yourself haha!

My fiance...(ahhh husband - gotta keep corrcecting myself) and I stuck to a pretty straightforward policy of only inviting those people who would be PUMPED to get our std/invite...not like 'ughhhhh another wedding' or anything along those lines!

And it worked out SO perfectly!!! We were SHOCKED by the turn-out even at the Church. We had a 3pm ceremony and a 7pm CH so we were convinced many ppl wouldn't be able to make it to the church bc of the down time in between. Well, the Church was PACKED...almost the entire 200 person wedding was there because we only invited the very closest in our lives!

It is an incredible feeling to be surrounded by everyone you adore!!!

This JUST happened to me!! At first I was like, oh crap what do I do. Then I just added them to the list. For me, it was just easier to invite them and deal with the extra 2 people and avoid drama. I'm also spineless normally and avoid confrontation at all cost
