what would you do? - car problems

in 2001 we leased a saab viggen with the option to buy...we leased first...to have lower monthly payments...but we had every intention to buy, b/c this was a special saab (a sports version)...they had just come out in 1999...and we figured we could keep it as a collectors car...either was the purchase price after the lease was $16000 and we coul definitely seel it for more...the list price was $46K

well...some of you may remember that we took it in for a routine check up...and they forgot to put the nut on and our engine was killed...they fixed it and only had apologies for us...but we just got it back...and the car is not the same...it is not super fast...like it used to be...the engine was new from sweden...but saab stopped making this version...replaced by the new car - aero...

so now we have a 'regular' saab..but are paying the saab viggen lease price...

are there legal options?

I don't see how this is fair, they broke the original engine, they should have to replace it with something similar in value.

This does not seem like it is similar in vvalue. If you wanted a regualr engine, you would have bought the regular Saab. I would call them up, and tell them you are not happy about this.

I dont know if you have any legal recourse with this. I just want you to know that I think this ****s. I hate car companies for this reason. Maybe you can finish up your lease and then get a new car for the same amount of your lease now. I would try and negotiate with the car dealer. Did they give you any reason why they werent making that engine anymore? Was there no way for them to get you a new one?? Maybe a letter to SAAB headquarters is necessary??
