What would you do-I need advice on wedding etiquette screw up! Please read!!
Hi, I just came across this website & am so happy I did-its great how everyone helps eachother out! Maybe you can help me...my bridal shower was in October of this year. One of the gifts I received were thank you cards w/adrs already on them, all I had to do was write out and post...easy,right?
Well I wrote them all out right away, and even brought them to my job to post-I put them thru the machine & they were dated Nov 1...my wedding was in December. Since then I have moved to a different house with my husband, and while unpacking the other day(mind you, Feb 15th) I came across a bag of, you guessed it, My Thankyou's!!! I NEVER sent them out-I dont know how I could be so flighty-How BAD is that! I would just drop them in the mail now, I can say maybe they got lost in the mail(!) but theyre dated November, and get this...I think I might have wrote in the cards 'see you at the wedding'!!!
A lot of these people were His family who I met for the first time and they gave me a gift so I really feel terrible.
Should I write them all over & send them along w/my wedding thankyou's (oh, how very tacky!!) or just forget it!! My husband thinks I am an idiot!
What would you do? thanks in advance for your responce!!

Huh??? Your dates have me screwed up. You got married in 3/2002. Were the Thank Yous sent in Dec 2002 or Dec 2003??

If you didn't have a large E-party, maybe you can call your guests and explain to them honestly what happened. I think they're probably find it pretty funny.

Thanks- I could do that, but do you think it's weird to go to a shower in early October and just get a thank you NOW?! Is there some kind of time limit-etiquette wise, on sending shower thank you's??!!

Well considering you had a pretty big shower, (how the heck many people were at the wedding? lol!) I would just get new envelopes for your thank-yous. I don't think it's too late, but like someone else suggested, I would wait a good month after sending the shower t-ys to send the wedding ones. Just get them out ASAP!

I really don't think that anyone is checking the post date of your envelopes. I would just sent them. I think the most important thing is that you are sending them.

Hey Karen!
Speaking as someone who took forEVER sending thank yous for our engagement party, I think the important thing is just to go ahead and send them, as is. If anyone is confused by the 'see you at the wedding' remark, they can look at the postmark and see that you 'sent' them in November... which might just make them assume they got lost in the mail. You could always explain it to the people who you're close to in the family, and they can explain it to others if anyone asks.
