What would you do if ring didn't fit?

What would you do if ring didn't fit?

I brought my engagement and wedding band to the jeweler we bought them from to have them resized since they don't fit since I got pregnant and gave birth. I went up a whole 1 1/4 sizes. The problem: the jeweler thinks because of the invisible setting (as he calls it) the stones may fall out.

He gave us the option of still resizing (risking the baguettes falling out), which he felt if they were going to fall out, it would happen then.

Or buying a whole new setting and having a different style ring, with my original center stone.

I'm torn. I know if they resize the rings and don't fall apart then, I will be paranoid wearing them thinking they are going to fall apart. If I don't resize, they will just go in a drawer.

So, do I resize? Get a whole new style ring (which then really isn't my engagement OR wedding band... will it lose it's meaning and what they symbolize? Would you bring the new rings to be 'blessed' so to speak?

What would you do?

THanks!

do the baguettes flank the entire band? if not, resizing SHOULD NOT affect the baguettes. you can also add an extender (not sure of the proper name).

Hi! My FIL is a jewler and a diamond setter. I have an invisible set e-ring. I have not needed to have it resized yet, but my FIL's advice is to get it reset in either a different setting or the same b/c the diamonds are more likely to fall out if you compromise the integrety of the ring too much. I have already had 4 diamonds (the invisible set ones) fall out from just banging the ring while I was cleaning (stupid, I know to be cleaning with it) I am going to have my ring re-done soon. I ca't make up my mind to have it done in the same style or different than my original. I love it so much!

good luck! I hope I helped in some small way!

How long has it been since you gave birth? You could potentially lose a lot of weight...most likely all of the baby weight eventually.
With that in mind, I wouldn't want to risk ruining the ring you have now because it will probably fit you again; sooner than you think. I went through a similar situation and now weigh less than I did pre-baby. My ring sizes have been fluctuating like crazy the past 3 years.

Could you get a less expensive ring in the meantime? Just so you have a wedding band to wear.
