I don't post much, but I'm in need of some advice and thought you girls could help. Here's some background: About 2 years ago I became friends with a girl that works for the same company I do. She works out of their Westchester office. We would talk every once in awhile but then we both got engaged within weeks of each other and all of a sudden realized we had so much more in common and became instant friends outside of work. Because of the distance, we don't see each other much and we've never even met each other's FH's!! Anyway, fast forward to today. I received an invite to her wedding in July but it was only addressed to me and there was no inner envelope. I don't believe my friend even knows my FH's last name so I thought maybe she didn't want to seem embarassed and just didn't write his name on the envelope. I would like to attend her wedding but being that it's far away, I would need to stay overnight and I really wouldn't want to do that without FH. I don't want to be one of those guests that sends the response card back with both of our names if she intended to only invite me. What should I do? Should I call her and casually ask if FH is invited letting her know it's no big deal if he's not? Should I just decline her invitation? I don't know what to do!

Re: What would you do?? (kind of long)
I would absolutely assume that she intended to invite you and FH.
eta: If you both got engaged within weeks of each other, she knows you have an FH.

Not all invites have inner envelopes. I bet she invited you without a guest. I would ask.

Hmm... I dunno about that one. If I didn't know your FH's name I would've at least written 'and Fiance' or even 'and guest' on the outer envelope so that you knew it was intended for the two of you.
I would ask just to be safe. And let her no it's no big deal if he's not, that you weren't sure, and didn't want to be one of those people who 'assumes'.

I would ask her casually and if she says no, she says no, it can't hurt!!

One of my friend's boyfriend just moved in with her. When I was making up the wedding list I called her and ASKED what his name was. I get the feeling that if she didn't put his name on the envelope than he wasn't invited. I would not assume and I would give her a call

I would not assume, but if you are close as you say you are, I don't think there is anything wrong with picking up the phone and asking her. Just make sure you preface by saying that it is okay if he's not invited.

Yea I would just call her up and ask. If you are good friends then I don't think it will be a big deal.
