Okay, I am on a quest to get the best price for my (and my girl’s) gown. I got a price online for about $300 less than the lowest quote I have received from a bridal shop. The place online is actually in Illinois (about 1 hr from where my mom lives), so, what would you do??

I'm an avid supporter of supporting local business, even if it costs a little bit more. Did you try barganing with the local place?

I had a similar dilemma. Not sure if it will work out. I live in Boston and found a dress in Boston. But, the price they want to charge for alterations is too high. So I told them to ship my dress to NY and I hope to find someone on LI to alter my dress. I liked the dress, it was in my price range and I figured I'd find someone to alter it.
Does anyone know a good tailor? I have a lot of work to be done to my dress since it is a sample.
So, I would buy the dress in IL unless a reduced price that the local salon will charge for alterations cancels out your benefit.
