What would you do? *RD question*

What would you do? *RD question*

Ok Ladies, I need some advice! Here's the situation: My Fh's parents are coming up from South Carolina the day before our wedding, this is their only choice - they can't come any earlier. Our church only has a time slot of 7:30 to do the rehearsal. (So late ) So, I figure the rehearsal will take about an hour when all is said and done - which brings us to 8:30. Then the restaurant that my in-laws picked (bc they are paying) is about 20-25 minutes away from the church. It's going to be 9:00 by the time we even get to the place and then we will be eating at 9:30..... the night before the wedding!!! What do I do?? I thought about having the dinner before the rehearsal, but my church said that we can't have any 'drinks' before the rehearsal.

Help me ladies, what would you do? Should I just suck it up and have the diner that late? Should I do just drinkd and appetizers? It also means that the RD won't end until 11/11:30. Is that to late for me to be out on the night before the wedding?

Thanks for listening

the rehearsal will probably take less than an hour, some will do it in 30 mins. Really doesn't take long. If people show up on time it should go quick.

For a thursday wedding and wednesday rehersal to me that seems really late. Especially when it's the middle of the week.

But then again, if your BP is off the day of your wedding then I guess it's fine. How is the chuch going to know if you have drinks at your rehersal dinner?

So, do you think even 8:30 is too late to sart the RD? Is it too late to make people wait to eat dinner?

Is it really necesary to drink alcohol during dinner? I know that you want to toast and everything, but how about a non-alcholic dinner before the rehearsal and then drinks after the rehearsal?

IMO that is late... Could you have the rehersal the night before & not have FH parents there? Then have just the dinner the night before the wedding & start that early? Not sure if people would be available, but might work out. Otherwise, if you have to do it night before- make sure to take a nap before you go!!

Well, the church said they didn't want us to have drinks before we did the rehearsal. A main reason I didn't want to do the dinner before we went to the church.

Yes, it is hard for a Thursday wedding, everyone that will be at the RD will have off the next day though, of course.

i dont know, if you get out of there by 10:30 would that be ok for you? its all on you and what works for you. I am doing mine 2 days before the wedding and are starting around 8-8:30 but since its thursday and our wedding is saturday, i didn't mind. Can you do the rehearsal 7pm, are they will to work with you on this at all

First, how is your church going to know if you have some wine with dinner. Second, even if you do.....if you have dinner then go right to the rehearsal, no one is going to have time enough to appear like they've been drinking so I wouldn't worry about it. Have your dinner beforehand if that is an option and then have the rehearsal.

I guess this is true. I just didn't want the added stress of hoping the priest doesn't smell alcohol on us, ya know?

It's not so bad, rehearsal's usually go quick and you'll probably be so excited the night before your wedding you won't sleep much anyway. I say just suck it up and don't drink at the rehearsal dinner, you'll be nice and tired and fall right to sleep to be FRESH for your wedding day!!

Just a quick note, make sure you prepare everything for the wedding day the day before the rehearsal so you're all set to go. Good Luck!

A couple of glasses with wine at dinner is not going to make you smell like a brewery. I wouldn't worry about it all.

Our rehearsal was only about 20-30 min., they basically just tell you where to stand, and make you walk down the aisle a couple times so you get used to it. I would tell everyone 15 min. earlier than your scheduled rehearsal, because people may be late ((our pastor was lol)) ..

and isn't your officiant invited to the rehearsal dinner? Wouldn't he not want you drinking period then? I know my pastor is different, I think he even had a little wine with us.

Honestly, I don't think that's too late...you're probably not going to be able to sleep the night before the wedding anyway...

good idea, tell them 7pm and wait for them outside and this way by 7:30 everyone is there. It really will probably take just 30 mins for the rehearsal
