What would you do? (Super long...sorry....)

What would you do? (Super long...sorry....)

OK- So, I went to the Wedding Center and they had my dress...BUT there was no style number on the tag, just TWC number (I'm pretty sure it was anyway- 2365). And it was the same price as it was at Lillette's. So, now I'm thinking my chances for getting it any cheaper are slim (even if Phyllis can get it, how much cheaper could it possibly be?)

So, here is my problem...I don't know if I should get the dress and break the bank, OR if I should get my 2nd choice dress (the demetrios in my album) and save $750. I would be saving more than the demetrios is worth!! I am on a tight budget.

The dresses are totally different and both gorgeous...although I felt the need to keep looking after the demetrios. I amdmitted I REALLY liked it, but the Maggie was what made me look in the mirror and think- I'm a bride!

I'm sure I will love either dress once the whole look is put together, but I don't know if I will regret not splurging on the dress since I settled on the hall.

So, the question is: Splurge or Save?

LOL-- As I'm typing this I'm thinking to myself-- I'm asking the wrong group of people-- because I know most of you will say splurge. My mom would say save. I need an impartial vote...but I'm putting it out there anyway.

One more question: How can I get the style number from Lillette's..I need to somehow convince them to give it to me over the phone...or I'll have to go back there, but then I need an excuse to NOT order the dress yet, if I do order it.

GAH!! I'm so confused!!

SORRY SO LONG!!

What an amazing feeling!! I am one of those brides who had the opportunity to experience this feeling...and it's unlike any other. I cried because my dress was the only one that I could see myself as a bride in, although I tried on numerous GORGEOUS dresses. I would get this dress...you won't regret it, and every time you look back at your wedding pictures, you'll think about how in love you were with your gown.

Call up RK bridals no frills #, and ask for them to price it for you... they'll do it within 10 min. If it is still too much, you should probably wait a couple days and think it over. You don't want any regrets, either way!!!!

Think of it this way.....if you don't get your number 1 choice and you pic the other one.....will you regret it down the road? When you put that dress on on your wedding day will you be thinking about the other one?

I am the WRONG person to be giving advice on this stuff because I always say SPLURGE!!!

There are so many ways to save money....but I just don't think the dress is one of them!

I definitely say splurge but I am a little confused as to what your dream dress is.......is it the Maggie in your album?

no...there are no pics online b/c it is a limited edition Thats also why i am unsure if I will be able to get it from phyllis or burtons.

I'm going to bring my mom to see it on sunday and see what she thinks...until then...I'll think it over.

I say splurge (by the way I am still searching for it)
Its one day and you need to be happy and in love with your dress. If you go with your second choice you will spend the rest of the months up until your wedding wondering if you made the right choice and making yourself crazy.
I have an idea for you.
GO back, put the dress on for your mom. Ask them if it would be possible to fill out an order form and not put down a deposit. That you want time to decide definitely that is the dress you want. Ask also if you can give a cc# over the phone if you decide you want it-this way they will think that you WILL definitely order it.
THEN ask for a copy so that when you do call you have it and go over it with whom ever you speak to to make sure that it is right. BLAM you have the style number.
voila! Hope it works

Any other time, i'm usually one to say 'go with the second choice....but, it's your wedding......today I would tend to say go for it!!

Did it have little flowers all over it? Or were they only in certain places?

I think you should splurge. Girl, its your wedding day! You'll never get to do this again (or at least, you dont PLAN on doing it again), so go aheah and get the dress that you're in love with...the one that makes you feel like a bride! If you dont, you'll end up regretting it down the road.

I say splurge....but how expensive is it? if you're on a budget and your dress os over $2,000, I would save save the money on the dress.

my dress was $1200.00 For me, I am on a small budget and that was a LOT of money for me... but i saved on everything else and i was in love with the dress, so it worked out. it also helped that mommy and daddy help me with the dress!

Why not go back to Lilettes or Wedding Center and tell them that you found it some place else for a lot less money? Tell Lilettes that the Wedding Center had it for $300 less or vice versa. I don't see any harm in lying to try to bargain with you since they're the ones that mark up the dresses so high in the first place.

This was a difficult vote. I voted save..but here is why. because I am the type of person to save on EVERYTHING LOL...but thats just me. U wrote that you like them both and once you are all prettyed up..you will feel great ineither one, however, from ur post it seems like you want to go with the more expensive one ...so I would say spurge. And like kitty said, save on other things...HTH

Spluuurggge! Get the dress that makes you feel like a bride...in my search there were several 'maybees'...then i found 'the one' and looking back at all the pics of ones i tried on I am so happy i waited and found what made me feel like a bride...i love my dress.

As for Phyllis...when i was still in the searching stage she quoted me $300 less than other places on a dress! So you may not have to spend as much as you thought!

just a suggestion...when we saw phyllis she said that if we tried on a dress we loved to remember the details and through describing it she should be able to figure it out....maybe call her and see if she can do anything
