This is crazy and I can't even believe I am considering this... Instead of having this wedding we would call it off. I would lose $3500.00 in deposits and DIY's I have already paid for. Some of it could be returned.
Instead we would get married at the JOP and take a two week trip to Tahiti. Stay at the same hotel CaMacho stayed at. The trip would cost the same as the wedding.
I AM SO TORN!!!
I really want a wedding and I really want to go to Tahiti. FH could care less either way but he suggested it.
Any thoughts?

ask yourself if 15 years down the line and you think about your marriage would you regret not having a wedding in the first place?
personally...i would LOVE to have that choice...we were even going to have a destionation wedding but then FH's parents wanted us to have a wedding here on LI..so we decided to make them happy and just do it here...and when i thought about how i would feel about the decision when i'm older i knew i was making the right decision by keeping it here

totally agree. think about how you feel in the future...if you dont think you'll care...go for it! if you think you might regret not having the wedding....stick with your original plan and start saving your pennies for the Tahiti trip for your 10 year anniversary!
i've always dreamed of the 'big' wedding so it wouldnt be an issue for me. and $3500 is a lot of money for me to lose!

I agree with the girls. Try to think how you'll feel years from now. Will you regret not having the big wedding or not?
If you have the big wedding now, do you think you could go to Tahiti sometime in the future? Then you could have both.
So FH comes in and reads the post and then he said to me- we are not calling off the wedding and we are not going to Tahiti! If we don't have the wedding then how can you help all the brides? He's such a meatball but he is driving me crazy!
He's into the wedding -then he's not. He's into the honeymoon- then he's not. Then he want's to elope. Then he want's a wedding.
LADIES! HE WON'T MAKE IT ANOTHER 8 MONTHS IF HE KEEPS IT UP!!!
And he's dead serious when he's talking about it too. So then I get all upset and try to consider his feelings and......NO MORE!!!!
He's getting married! At SMCC! TOO BAD!!!!! And from now on i'm just going to placate him while he's in that mood until that mood changes to another one.
The man has never been like this before. I hope it's just the heat!

omg you got my scared.......it would be nice to go to Tahiti....but wesacrificed our honeymoon trip to Tahiti and instead are going to Hawaii
however its true...you have to ask yourself if in the future do you wish you had the wedding of your dreams...would you regret that????
dont worry...8 more months will come by so fast...then you wont have to worry about wedding stuff really anymore....
you guys are getting married.....FH goes back and forth about it just to make me angry....
I think so and I realized this after the whole thing and him reading the post. So I am going to keep quiet about $$ issues and try to find a HM that's not so expensive. I think Secretes Excellence in Mexico is where we may go. That is all Iwill discuss with him from now on. The HM!
