I’ve been upset the last few weeks about my son and his fussiness that still continues at 5+ months. We spoke to the dr. yesterday and she suggested trying soy formula, so he started that last night, keeping my fingers crossed that it makes a difference.
I feel I’ve been very negative and upset lately, so I thought I would post something positive and fun. I can’t WAIT to take my son to Disney World when he gets older. It’s my favorite place to be. Just curious, what age do you think is good for the first time? Any stories of when you brought your children? When you were brought as a child? When you think you will bring your child for the first time? I love Disney and just can’t wait but I can’t figure out what a good age is.

I say if you are planning to do a once in a childhood trip, I'd vote for over 5 yo. But if you plan on returning again anyway I think 3-4 yo is a fun age.
However Aidan is 9 months and we leave for Disney tomorrow! Should be fun no matter what... can't wait for the warmer temps

I agree with this. My family went when I was 3 and supposibly I had a ball, but I couldn't remember that trip if my life depended on it. We went again when I was 7 though, so I was able to remember it that time.

OK, not a parent, but I do have some input on this.
My first trip to Disney was when I was 7 1/2. It was great, no problems.
I used to work down in Disney World, and watching the guests I always felt that it was something you shouldn't do with your kids until they are schooling (Kindergarten) age. The characters with their big heads and eyes can be very scary for younger children. Also, they tend to get very fussy and cranky, and then you have to contend with carrying them all over the park! It's not like the mall or something, I would imagine it's quite exhausting!
As much as I love Disney, I won't take my kids until they're at least 5 or so.

Kate, have a GREAT TIME!!!!! I would love to hear all about it when you get back!
Princessrose, thanks for your opinion, it's interesting to hear from somebody who worked there. What did you do when you worked there? Did you love it?

Since we do Disney all the time, got engaged there and honeymooned there, I want pictures of me pregnant there and baby pics too!!
But then I don't think I would want to go for the child's enjoyment until about 4 or 5 years old.

I am not yet a parent but I just wanted to comment.
I went when I was 3 (almost 4) and believe it or not I do have a vague recollection of how much fun I had!!!! There is even a video of me dancing with goofy and then I proceeded to pull down his pants!
However I do agree with PrincessRose to a point regarding the characters and their 'big heads'. I remember going to Milleridge Inn when I was little for Easter and they had all the Sesame Street characters there and I screamed my head off when I saw Oscar.
So I guess it depends on the individual child. If you think hes ready - go for it! And have fun.

Re: What's a good age for Disney?
We took our 4 and 1 year old last year and it definitely was not what we wanted, they were too overwhelmed, I think this year would be better, they are 5 and 2. My girlfriend changed the name from 'The Magic Kingdom' to 'The Meltdown Kingdom'. It's sensory-overload for most kids under 5.

I think it depends how you pace it... and how many kids you are going with... If its just you and your DH and your baby, than I wouldn't be hesitant to bring him early... My sister had taken both of my nieces the oldest was two or three on her first visit... and the baby was 1 and a hlf-2 on her first visit.... they go once a year now...
My son is turning two tomorrow and Brian and I are thinking of taking him on Sunday. I will let you know if we go and how it goes!!!Good Luck!
