I prefer Canon or Nikon..

I highly recommend B&H.. they are amazing..

Thanks Marcella...I just want to get something for my SIL that is reasonable but also pretty good. If it was for me, I would be looking into the best..lol.

Also...what is APS? I sooo don't know anything about this stuff. I haven't had one of these cameras in YEARS.

I have a olympus that I love. The pictures always come out great too.

I would check out epinions.com I always go on there when I am looking for any appliances or whatever and users rate the products.. pretty cool site..

B&H is definitely the best place to go.

APS film is 'Advanced Photo Systems', also called Advantix. It's when the film rolls back up into the canister, basically.... drop in loading and all of that, plus you can choose from 3 different picture sizes. Not worth it in my opinion. Processing is also more expensive and less convenient than regular 35mm.

Do you want a small zoom camera with a fixed lens, or an SLR? (Single Lens Reflex). With SLR cameras you can do a lot more, and change lenses and switch from manual to automatic (in most cases). SLRs cost more, though, but are better if he really wants to study Photography as a hobby. As far as SLRs go, we have a Canon EOS. It's nice, but not the best on the market. B&H will be able to help you find the best one, no matter what!

I love my Canon Sure Shot.

I still haven't gotten with the times and gone digital because I love it so much!
