I am doing a vase of cherry blossoms with ribbons hanging and the placecards clipped down the ribbons. Athough it's not too expensive, I slightly cut my floral budget to make room for the placecard idea.
oriental trading has cards with bells and a poem on them. on the other side or on the front depending on witch oines u get you can write teh names and table numbers. then instead of people banging on glasses you can have them ring the little bells attatched to the cards!! 50 of them for $4.95:)

Heather the last wedding I went to had those bells, and no one used them. People stuck to the tried and true banging on a glass with ones knife. When I talked to the bride & groom post honeymoon they felt it was a waste.
