What's more important??

Original post by SoinLoveRwe2

We just went looking at RHs for the first time (we've only been engaged a week) and I am so scared I'm not going to find anything that love EVERYTHING about. We looked at East Wind, Giorgios & Jericho Terrace. Giorgio's wasn't for us- but we are having a hard time deciding what is more important to us about the place. We are not banking on nice weather so we need a place that will have good photo ops inside- to me, Jericho Terrace fits that bill- plus I couldnt be more in love with the Dome room, I feel like if I close my eyes, that's where I picture my wedding- but I'm not crazy about the more than one wedding OR the fact that 2 huge rooms share the same bathroom!! Also, I'm not crazy about the first impression driving up.... on the other hand- when you drive up to east wind- you lose your breath it is so beautiful- first impressions are lasting aren't they? But in the reception rooms it's more of a country feel than a ballroom & I wan't my reception to be black tie optional. SO what matters more, the first impression, or the ballroom-- being the only wedding, or loving the place???? Am I never going to be happy? I am so scared that when I DO find the place they won't have any dates... ok it's one week in & I am officially freaking out!! How many places did you look before you found the one? I want to look at a lot but I don't want to fall in love with anything out of my price range. PLEASE HELP & TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!!!!
Is anyone settling & not loving where their reception is? AAHH!!

Re: What's more important??

Just keep looking! You've only seen a few places.

I kept seeing very beautiful places but I wasn't really excited about any of them. Then me and FH went to see one place and we both walked out of there saying 'that's the place.'

Give it time. You will find THE place.

Good Luck!

I looked at 25 different halls before I found the one that had everything we wanted in a hall. Your perfect place is out there, you just have to keep looking.

Keep looking! I felt the same way, and my FH and I kept saying we were never going to find the perfect place. We looked at about 5 or 6 places, and then decided to call LaGrange on a whim, just to compare pricing. We walked in and LOVED it. We knew right away that it was the place for us - we were going to be the only wedding, it felt comfortable, and the price was right. We couldn't believe it! You will definately know when you have found the perfect place for you and your FH!

Re: What's more important??

Thank you so much for all of the support- I'm glad I'm not the only one out there that feels this way- I wrote a pros & cons list at work today & that REALLY stressed me out-- I never knew how much the little things mattered to me- I think thought that after all is said and done & just love the ballroom at JT, it's not really for me-- I would end up renting china, chair covers, table cloths ect- not only that-- but they told me that the room holds 240 comfortably but my min is 200- that means I need to invite at least 260 to garuntee 200 & take a chance that I have 250- more than that room should handle- Why do they make their min so close to their limit? I'd rather have a place that wants the wedding to go perfectly, not make the most money as possible. We're going back to East wind tonight for the showcase- we didnt see the ballroom at the inn so we're going to look at it-- AHHH!!! I hope I wont end up going to 20 places... I won't have time!! We're in the middle of MAJOR construction on our house & almost all our spare time is going there-- if I am this stressed now, how am I going to be in 2 years!!! Thanks again girls-- what would I do without you?? (end up not getting married becasue my FH would watch me go off the deep end!! lol)

Re: What's more important??

Here's my two cents:

#1 - and this is most important - LOVE the place. This is about you, not your guests (though I promise at some point along the way you or someone else might forget that.)

#2 - I'd focus more on the space that you're in. after all, that's where you'll actually be enjoying yourself. Personally, I don't think the exterior is so important.

#3 - I don't think you should fret about more than one wedding at a time so long as its not five or six weddings at one time.

#4 - ENJOY PLANNING!!!!! I sincerely hope you have a wonderful experience.
