I've never seen a silk sample...

but it might be the only option if her flowers aren't in season at the time she wants to see the sample

Real, I would run for the hills if a florist showed me a silk sample.

I'm a little concerned. The shop didn't even offer a contract until Debi was told by another local flower shop vendor, that she should have one, and told her what should be on it. Debi did get a contract. I'm not criticizing the flower shop, but the initial lack of a contract and now silk fowers sample, causes me some concern!! Mary MOB

I would say real....it's hard to tell what the actual arrangement will look like unless you see a sample with the flowers that will be used

Hi, not only REAL but take pictures of it so this way you get what you saw the day of the sample. Alot of time they will use more green filler the day of and if you have the picture with you then you could negociate right there and then. Also if they see you taking pictures they will not fool around with trying to cut corners

I would agree, it should be real! I wouldn't want to see a silk sample arrangement, it could look completely different!

okay - here's the other side of it....

I'm saying real - BUT - if she is using seasonal flowers & wants to have her sample appointment earlier than the flowers would be around - i understand silk.

Hi, Susan!!!!! How ya do'in? I agree about taking a picture. Debi seems more laid back about this. I talked to her about it earlier. She said this shop was within their budget, and the shop ladies were the only ones who seemed to understand their vision for the flowers. Also, Debi said they were nice. Perhaps all is well; Mary MOB

Jess, have you ever heard of this being done before, with silk, instead of real? Mary MOB

No - but i do know that my florist kept pushing back my appointment because we were using winter flowers - so our original appointment in november wouldn't work - because the flowers just weren't available... So - if she's using summer flowers & wants a March appointment - it makes sense that the flowers wouldn't be available...ya know?

Thanks to all of you who have given me your take on this! Much appreciated!!! I work with silk flowers from time to time, and while you can get almost a sense of what the real look like, I don't think it's the same. Mary MOB
