What's Proper?

On invitations/STDs what is best:

Mr and Mrs or John and Betsy...so and so

On the outer envelope it should be Mr. and Mrs., on the inner you can use first names if you like....

on the outer envelope there should be no abreviations:

Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
1313 Mockingbird Lane
Anytown, NewYork 11784

on the inner you may write their first names:

John and Mary

but spell out the word 'and'

This example uses Mr. and Mrs. Smith on the inner but I prefer John and Mary:

Mrs Husband's first name last name.

At least that is what my grandmother wants me to do for her friends.

Is there any way to include BOTH first names? Honestly, I really have a problem with Mr. and Mrs. john Smith, and I know MANy women who took their hubby's names but resent being 'Mrs. John Smith' when their name is 'mrs mary smith'

Can you put 'Mr. and Mrs. John and Mary Smith?'
