Re: Whats protocol for job hunting?
what industry are you in- I know with marketing/business it takes up to about 1.5 monthst to start getting inquiries- just keep sending out resumes everyday and eventually you will get a bite.
also if you know anyone that works in a similar field have them give HR your resume, that usually holds more weight
good luck

Re: Whats protocol for job hunting?
I wouldn't call them. Did you try Careerbuilder.com or Monster.com? My mom works in a drs office and she interacts with doctors all the time. I am gonna ask her if she knows of anywhere where they might be hiring.
I have a lsit of job sites if you would like them!! Let me know!!!!

Re: Whats protocol for job hunting?
I've been unemployed for over 3 weeks and I send my resume out to AT LEAST 3-4 places a day. I have not heard from one company in all those 3 weeks. I had an interview with 1 company so far and thatsb/c my dad works in the building and tried getting me in. otherwise NOTHING and we need the money so badly right now I cried about it all night last night

Re: Whats protocol for job hunting?
Things move a lot slower in the summer. People are on vacation, a lot of offices close early on Friday, stuff like that.
You know that there's a nursing shortage and that THEY need YOU more than the other way around. You won't hear anything today, on a Friday, but I bet you'll hear something by next week.
Good luck!!!

Re: Whats protocol for job hunting?
Job hunting really $ucks. I remember going through it last year and it's horrible just because it seems like no one cares. If you sent them out last week, I would give it some more time before you do a follow-up. I would also check careerbuilder.com and monster.com like one of the other girls suggested. My FH submitted his resumes to those websites and he got a good amount of responses and interviews. Good luck!

Re: Whats protocol for job hunting?
see i have a part time job now... they are not offering me any incentive to stay... they LITERALLY pay me 1/2 of what the going rate is for a nurse and they know that.

Did you ever contact an agency? Since you have experience, they may be able to find you something. I know Execu-Search does healthcare staffing, but I'm not sure how much they have on LI.

Re: Whats protocol for job hunting?
Meg- so sorry I didn't get back to your last FM. I have class and homework and then completely forgot I didn't FM ya back again!
But my mom said as of rigth now the doctor isn't hiring and she suggests you don't work there haha. The doctor is kinda well cheap and my mom only gets what an RN should get because she is the head nurse in the office and my mom flipped when he tried to pay her less- she is a nurse of 25 yrs. The doctor is ridiculous at my moms office so she said she knows you wouldn't be getting paid what you deserve.
but good luck and my mom is asking around and i will ask FH's grandma she works in Good Sam hospital!
