What's something good to give a four year old girl?
We are having brunch on Sunday with friends and their almost 4 yr old daughter is in love with DH. Anyway, I wanted to bring her some sort of little gift (we haven't seen them in almost a year, at least DH hasn't).
Any ideas? (I'll also take suggestions for something small for her one year old sister! )

Clothes are good. (Lots of little girls seem to like cute outfits nowadays.)
Can you find out if she has a favorite character (ie Elmo, Care Bears, Wiggles, etc.)
If anything I might go with something 'DISNEY PRINCESS-y' Can't really go wrong with that!

Another thought would be something that you could actually play/do with her. (Coloring books, craft, a game, puzzle, paper dolls, dress up...) It might be more appreciated if you sat down with her and DID something with her instead of just handing her a toy and then going off to hang with the adults.

I love those carrying cases filled with crayons and markers--I gave one to my niece with coloring books and she loved it.

True!! But there's no going off to hang with the adults ... she will be stuck to Tim like glue until we leave. It's adorable!! She's all 'TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMM '
I may see where I can find paper dolls! I like the old school-ness of that!

They live in an apt in the city and the ceilings are really high!

My one & only little niece is almost 4 and may I say SPOILED (but in a good way) there's not a toy or 'thing' that little girl does not have. Right now the item of the week seems to be anything Strawberry Shortcake (last months flavor was Dora). I wouldn't go with anything too craftsy because their attention span is @ 30 seconds...and NO,NO,NO to such things as play-doe(sp?) or messy stuff...it'll just find its way into the garbage.

What about a cowbell and a drumstick to beat it? JUST KIDDING!
I brought an Olivia the Pig book & plush toy to a friend's recently for their 3yr old....

It's close to halloween, so you could get her a little pumpkin that she can paint later. You could also get a little set of paints to go with it.

My lil sister LOVED polly pockets, but they have small pieces so I do not know if that is good for her. She also loves that virtual pet thingy, can't remember the name though sorry
I guess I am no help
ETA: the virtual pet thingy is called Tamagachi (Sp)
My sis LOVES them, she has like 5
