What's something you've eaten that grosses out others?

Whenever DH and I go out to eat with the in-laws, we always eat at Turkish or Russian restaurants. (they're from Russia)

They always try to get me to eat things I don't want to eat. It's like a game with them. They order in Russian so I don't know what it is and then try to get me to try it before they tell me.

That's how I wound up eating pate once and beef tongue another time. I actually like them, if you can believe it.

But I still refuse to eat fish. And they still ask me why. Every. Single. Time.

ETA- DH is completely grossed out by Tofu. So is my sister. And my mom.

I love Spam

This reminded me of last week the ppl from work were like Spam is so gross how can anyone eat that... and I was like ahemm - I love spam.

OK - I get these green drinks from the health food store - they have every green vegetable imaginable in them, and are served in a clear plastic cup... and its very green, as I said. They gross out everyone....

There's a certain dish that's made in my culture that grosses people out when I describe what it is....

However, if they don't know what it is, and just eat it....they love it....

It's called: 'Kibee Nay-ee' - which is translated into 'Raw Lamb/Kibee'....it's prepared with wheat germ, oil, garlic, onions, and a few spices...I absolutely LOVE it....

That being said, it's the 'raw' that people get grossed out about...but it's LAMB...not beef...and obviously you have to buy it from a butcher you KNOW.

- mustard in my green beens
- Foie Gras (most people think it's 'pate).... A given to gross people out when I explain what it really is....You overfeed a goose or duck. Liver becomes totally fat. Voila... foie gras. Did I win on this one?
- As a child but not anymore, raw oyster (loved to see the little suckers move with my fork) and escargots (snails) cooked of course.
- I also used to eat raw horse meat

well i have eaten the following without knowing what it was at the time:

tripe ( they told me it was fish - i thought it sounded like trout so i gave it a shot)

horse meat - they said it in italian, i knew it meant horse but i thought it was an expression - it wasnt. . . but it was good - i cant eat it now that i know what it is though

rabbit - they told me it was beef, i knew the rabbit personally . . . we were pals. . . italians dont really get the whole 'pet' concept LOL

i <3 sushi but a lot of people are grossed out by it - i love octopus and all that good italian stuff too.

I had rabbit too. It's not like a pet rabbit. I a HUGE rabbitt. Like a hare.

one thing that grossed ME out was that I ate EEL without knowing. I went to a sushi bar and was told it was smoked fish.......BLAH!

one thing that grosses FH out is that I eat my hashbrowns with syrup.....LOTS of it and I dip my fries in Mayo!

plain and simple: mustard.

i am allergic to mayo so i use it in place of mayo on EVERYTHING you put mayo on.

when i was a kid, i would mix some pepper into some mustard and use it as chip dip [bored a lot]. that usually grosses people out as well. every now and then i make a 'batch' and DH cringes.

i hate to admit it--but i love tartar sauce with my french fries and chicken tenders. it makes my FH want to puke.
