in a dress before you thought it's just too much of a difference to alter? Through a connection who works for a designer, I was able to get my Mom a ridiculous discount on her Mother of the Bride dress. The bridal store charges $795 for the dress, meanwhile my connection can get it for me for only $320!!!! but here's the issue...
The woman at the store told my Mom she thinks she'd be a size 6 (this is just eyeballing and not really measuring). I'm thinking my Mom would possibly be smaller since she's really petite, but who knows for sure. My connection only has one dress left in the color we want and its in a size 8. My Mom is concerned that it'll be a huge pain to alter but I think she's totally overreacting. Even if she was a size 4, this size 8 could easier be made into a 4 right?!?
I think even if the tailor over charges my Mom to get it done, it'll still be worth it, right?!?

I think that would totally be fine.... and for some reason wedding-related dresses always run small! So there is a very good chance if she is usually a 4 she will be a 6 in the dress!
My mom is usually a 10 and she needed a 14!
And FSIL is usually a 4 and she needed a 10!

when i ordered my gown, they told me they can alter up to 3 sizes smaller, so from an 8, that would be 2 sizes smaller (im thinking 8-6-4, right). im sure every dress is a little different but they said this like it was pretty standard
