Between place cards and escort cards??

Escort cards tell the guests what table number they are seated at or you can do a seating chart.

Place cards are on the actual table assigned to the guest. Each guest has their own place card.

I didn't think there was a difference. I'm pretty sure they are the same things just referred to as different names.

Re: whats the difference

they are different.

Escort cards are placed near the entrance to the ballroom, they tell guests what table to sit at.
(escort the guests to the right spot)

Place cards are placed on the table at the seat you want your guest to sit at. (this is the place to sit)

Place cards are more formal and can be used in addition to escort cards. escort cards (or a seating chart) can be used w/o place cards.

There is a difference. Most weddings have escort cards but not all weddings have place cards.

I learned that from David Tutera

is it necessary to have BOTH place cards and escort cards?? I was just going to have the escort cards...it doesn't matter to me where at the table my guests sit.....
