Regular makeup is, well, regular. It's pretty much liquid foundation or compact foundation and applied with sponges, fingers, etc.

Airbrush--the makeup is applied with very fine spray, making it last longer and makes application more even.

I had trials with two makeup artists, one who did regular makeup and one who did airbrush. Although I liked the airbrush effect better, that artist used garish looking colors on my eyes and lips. I went with the regular artists, who did a better job with the colors. The shorter life of the regular foundation isn't something that brides haven't encountered before, so I felt OK about it.

I had trials with both and I don't think airbrush is anything to go crazy about but I am having it done on my wedding day because I have freckles and it covers them more smoothly. Airbrush also lasts longer and will hold up better with crying, sweating, etc.

Airbrush is silicon based, and regular makeup ingredients vary, especially depending on whether or not you want oil free or whatever. I would say try them both and see what you prefer. You have nothing to lose!

Hey there...airbrushed bride & makeup artist here. I think for big events (ie:YOUR WEDDING!!!!) photoshoots, anything else that u want your makeup to LAST for, airbrush is the way to go. It feels almost as if u have nothing on, is totally gentle on your skin, only comes off with soap, and is completely flawless. just my opinion! To each is own and i think everyone is different! try them both!

ps: u'll find that it's not that much of an extra expense...in fact most independent makeup artists(not in a salon) these days do airbrush as a regular service (depending on who u go to)
