What's the etiquette on this situation?

OKay....so when it comes to placecards, i've come across a situation where i'm stumped.

Lets say you have a guest who has a 'partner' but they arent married. I'm seating them at the same table, but do they get one place card for the two of them, or do I give them seperate ones? And if its the same place card, how is it worded?
for example:

Mr. Richard _____ & Ms. Fran ______

would that be correct?

Sorry if this is a dumb question...FH and I have been debating it back and forth

same placecard, less writing, less materials :D

no need to use Mr. , Mrs. 'cus that's just longer and more to write if you are handwriting...
