1. Aunt- I want to purchase your wedding jewelry for you Me- oh how nice! Aunt-Only if you don't get the long earrings...I don't like them so I'm going to get the ones I want! Me- But that's what I want to wear on my wedding day! Aunt- NO!
2. Enjoy this time because once you're married you'll hate your husband and want to go elsewhere

4. I wouldn't go with _____ (fill in anything you want, i.e. all clad pots and pans). {This is said AFTER you tell them this is what you did!}
5. Now that you're going to be married, you'll want to try new things to keep your husband around.....um, thanks 70 year old woman that is friends with my cousin's husband's grandma.

Well maybe this isn't weird, but I keep getting this advice.
Have your own separate and private bank account that you husband won't know about.
How many of you have gotten this?

I got told 'NEVER Get married- they ALL turn into jerks'!!! And when it was said the woman's 2 kids were in the room. Poor lady- and even worse, poor kids.

Re: What's the weirdest wedding advice you've gotten?
Shortly after I got engaged I was discussing, via email, what sorts of gowns I liked with a couple of people. A friend didn't like the Watters bridal gown I sent her via a web link, and said, 'I like the one at the bottom, you should get something like that in a neutral.' Took me a bit to realize that she meant the very plain beige bridesmaid's dress they suggested as a complement to the bridal gown. Yes, she thought I should wear a tea-length beige bridesmaid's dress. I am older than the average bride, and my fiance has been married before, however, I don't think that means I should wear a beige bridesmaid's dress!

Re: What's the weirdest wedding advice you've gotten?
I haven't gotten wierd advice but I have gotten nasty comments. I've had 2 people, on separate occasions, comment on the size of my ering. One was the girl that works at BBB while I was registering and the other was a waitress. The girl at BBB said, 'Oh I like your ring, what a cute size, you know, some people really come in here with too much.' Then the waitress said to me, 'Oh I like that. I like when they're not big.' I didn't ask their opinion either time, and I was so pissed. B/c I love my ering, and I would never change it. And it's a carat and a half.I don't think that's small- I'm a size 4 ring. Just the fact that people feel free to comment on anything really pisses me off!!

i have my own account. dh knows about it. i only have $100 in it, but it makes me feel good to have it. i was a single-mom for 11 years. it's going to take a while to let that go. dh knows about it and understands my emotional connection to that account. i know that i'll close it, just not yet.

Faith I SOOO feel your pain. I ahve the same issue. My ring is a 3/4 carat but its nearly flawless because the FH wanted me to have a better quality ring rather than a huge one. We use the same jewler all the time and even he said because he knows us both well, that a larger ring wouldnt suit me.
Anyway I have a size 4 finger too and when i showed the ring to a long tiem friend of my mother's her reaction was, 'oh its so cute.'
Cute? Its an antique looking filligree type style. Beautiful and she thinks cute? of course I calmed myself by reminding myself that she has 3 daughters and one recently announced she is gay and will never marry or have kids, one is a single mom with an alchohol issue and the third is too young to know yet.
People are just aholes.

Wow-zer! People have really warped senses of what is appropriate and what is not. You've got a great sized stone and they think it 'cute'? That is my biggest annoyance. One of my clients said my ring is 'cute' too. and another suggested that I could always get it re-set! I LOVE my ring, and it is exactly what I wanted- A 'tiffany' style engagement ring--and FH did get a better quality stone vs. something bigger.
When I got engaged one of my friends warned me that everyone and anyone would feel the freedom to comment on my choices and to give me crazy advice. So far she has been spot on!

Ya know, when my oldest sister got married (a good 12 years ago)....back then I didn't 'maintain' my eyebrows. Boy, they were like catepillars. She BEGGED me to get them waxed for her wedding! Honestly, I don't remember if I did!
